First Look - Kershaw RJ1 RJII

Whats the blade size on the non-cataloged one? It looks real good. Also, are they going to stay g10 or is it going to be glass filled nylon like the lady stated at shot?

Does anyone here have any ideas on RJII (plain) availability? Everywhere I've looked stocks appear to be out, or possibly the knife hasn't yet made it to market. This thread is four months old, so I'm having trouble understanding why the second situation would be the case.

Your guidance = appreciated.

It's nice to see how people on this forum appreciate that we are privy to a look at these knives months ahead of release and even before the design / *materials are finalized in some cases. I'm sure this will convince Thomas to continue keeping us in the loop.*

Additionally we did another manual Tanto variation from RJ. This piece will be a flipper, and will be on the market as a non-cataloged version at some point later this year. MSRP will be $39.95 on it also.

Does anybody know if this non catologed RJIII is or when it will be off to market?
I wish they made a ZT version in M4 with thrust bearings and a thick blade, oh please!

I love the rampage style blade grind, perfect! It's like ask and you shall receive.

I tried the RJI and Brawler but wasn't overly impressed, although I like the chill flipper and both grooves. I never knew how much I would like the G-10 frame lock scales until I tried it. Can we get a RJ production collaboration knife in a blade steel deserving of his exceptional designs.

Sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but Easter's coming up soon!

Does anyone have any info about the other un cataloged RJ manual flipper?

Whats the name?
Has it been made yet?
Has it hit the streets yet?

I don't even know how to search for it.

Thanks, sorry to bring this back from the dead.

I'm interested as well. I was going to write Thomas awhile back and about this and completely forgot about it. I've never seen one for sale on the secondary market so I don't know if they were ever released.

I would be all over most of the Kershaw catalog except for the steel quality. I think its great that you are going for great designs in lower price points, but a few of us a steel junkies :D

I like 'em and will have them asap. BTW Thomas, you know I will give any prototype a test run for FREE. Just send them to me with any special test requests and i'll put 'em through the wringer and send them back with results.:D:D:D

You mean like the Volt? I'll assume you are not impressed with 13C26/14C28N as you fail to mention the Zing, 2001's, 0170.

No problem bringing back the thread. The non-cataloged design has been shelved.

I believe i will own one of the flippers...

My Kershaw collection hasn't grown in the last few months... my JYD kinda satisfied all my folder needs for a while, but maybe it's time to get back into the swing

Aw man, this sad to hear. I was really looking forward to being able to add one to my collection. I love my RJ customs, but I really dig the RJ / Kershaw collaborations too.

Hey Thomas, is there any chance that this may come to fruition in the future or is it shelved indefinitely?

I'd REALLY like to see a Kershaw folder designed specifically for skinning...

something made out of a highly durable steel with a guthook and a profile made for skinning

I hate when I post stuff and forget to subscribe to it and find out there is replays a month later, doh!

I am still working on finding a Volt for sale and jumping on it, they go quick and sometimes cost a small fortune, as much as a RJ custom. But yes the Volt is toward the top of my need to get list, I need M390.

I don't have any issues with Sandvick, I just feel better with S30V at least. I haven't even really put a hurt on any Sandvick, I guess I need to really abuse one and put it to the test.

RE: the un-cataloged knife, does it even have a name? From the price and pics I can't even tell if it is 8Cr13MoV or 14C28N, US or offshore? Oh I see, its the same price as the RJ I/II, so it must come from the same place

Either way I care more about the Rampage style blade grind than what specific steel it is.

The 2nd model (post #3) I will definately pick up. Things I would like to see on this one are optional tip up carry and I would LOVE to see a composite variant. That would rate close to the composite JYD in my views of near perfection. PLEASE gimme a composite!

Ya post #3 is what has been shelved for the time being, boooo!

I think a composite would be cool, too. BUT thats an offshore made knife, I think and I don't think they want to have China doing the composite blade for many reasons.

Too bad there is no dealer to help push this to fruition.
