First Look - Kershaw RJ1 RJII

The 2nd model (post #3) I will definately pick up. Things I would like to see on this one are optional tip up carry and I would LOVE to see a composite variant. That would rate close to
the composite JYD in my views of near perfection. PLEASE gimme a composite!
Yeah, it's too bad about the non-catalog version. Definitely, something I would have been interested in regardless of the materials. I like that it was a manual flipper... (nothing against speedsafe, just the laws here are kind of unclear about that...) Liked the blade shape/grind, the handle shape, and the simple clip design. Heck, i guess there really wasn't anything I didn't like about it... lol

Anyway here's another voice to bring this back from the dead, I wonder if any dealers are listening... :o

Yeah i like the second one a lot better, especially after looking at it a few times now. I'm one of those people that wont buy tanto blades, i bought one tanto half serrated S&W once and that was enough but i actually quite like the tanto on the non catalog version. Kershaw has the coolest looking new knives out of any other company coming out for probably the last 5 years in a row. it seems like the other companies like to just stick with what works.

Wait, so the 2nd knife was the non-cataloged version?! Well poop, I must've read that wrong. That sucks. I would've loved that one.

Ya, sorry, but hay I'm here trying to stur up interest.

Maybe one day it will be in the catalog. There's still hope.

was just at a local cutlery store today and was able to handle the larger RJ I. and i gotta say im impressed! it feels and looks like it should be more expensive. ive been very interested in the RJII, but they didnt have that on hand. and for about $20 street price, itll be an easy decision to get.

great job by kershaw, all the RJ martin designs look fabulous! going to have to pick up a groove tanto too.
also, the store had a kershaw chill, and its roughly the same price as the RJ models, but they definitely didnt feel the same. the chill feels like a sub $20 folder, the RJI does not.

Well, I'm not too interested in the new knives in the OP, but I did learn of the Kershaw Groove from this thread and I'm liking that one a lot. Just placed an order, as a matter of fact!

You mean like the Volt? I'll assume you are not impressed with 13C26/14C28N as you fail to mention the Zing, 2001's, 0170.

No problem bringing back the thread. The non-cataloged design has been shelved.

OKAY you got me!

Just got a Zing serrated tanto, very nice!
Should be sending payment for a Volt within a few days!
But the Volt is sooo limited, I don't know if it counts, but yes something with a super steel like the Volt would be great!

Having someone loose a Rouge at my house is possible, but might take some fineglling.

It's just barely a tanto. A little work with a stone could probably round out that corner.

That's immediately what I though. How I would have to "fix" this knife if I bought one.
note to manufacturers: Make a NON-tanto version

Hey guys, sorry to bring up an oldish thread but to anybody that has used this knife or owns it:
How far does your lock engage? If you consider it "worn in" how far does it engage?

I just got the RJ II, and am fairly new to knives (have a buck 119, buck 110, and a sog fixation)

Any help on how far the lock on these or other frame locks, Im just wondering after its "worn in" will the lock stop working as well?

Thanks!
