Looks pretty groovy. I've heard a number of people state that the 560 was too big for them. I wonder if this model will float their boat.

I wish it had Ti, too but it's really no biggie for me. If I need Ti I'll use the 0561. I can't get over how nice it looks.

I think I see a few issues with that prototype. Go ahead and send it to me and I will check it out for you, no charge.

Should be about the same size as the cryo 2, but a little lighter and much higher quality materials and fit/finish. Unfortunately, no one has a cryo 2 to compare it to yet. I'd love to see it between an xm-18 3" and 3.5" for a size reference though.

Well, I can see why Rick collaborated on this design and some things about it seem ideal. It's perfect for those who can't make up their minds between a 3 inch and a 3.5 inch XM-18, just as the 560 was perfect for those who couldn't make up their mind between a 3.5 inch and a 4 inch XM-24. But since blade size limits tend to be in 0.5 inches you're opting for less knife that you could carry in a 3.5 inch area and more knife that you can legally carry in a 3 inch area. Personally I'd be one of those who can't make up their mind between a 3 inch and a 3.5 inch XM... so this is just perfect for me. I love it.

I assume it won't have the bearing system, at that price and since it will have speedsafe anyway? I don't suppose there'd be a spanto option? That really would be *perfect*!

I had the same thought, a knife with this steel and design at a great price point. If they used Ti, it would cost in the 200-250 range I'm sure.

When the knife is opened it uses the thumbstuds as the stop pin, that's just for when it's closed.

Well I guess I am the few who don't think the 0560 is too big, this new 566 will def be on my buy list. Speedsafe with the design of the 0560 is very interesting even tho I don't know how much faster a knife can open then the 560 with a good flip lol
