I posted a thread a while ago on the Spyderco forum asking about the bushcraft knife. Finally TedV had some photos and had permission from Spyderco to post them.

Wow, I thought I had enough fixed blades. Maybe after one of these I'll have enough!

Specs? Didn't notice any except stock thickness in the link, Sorry if I overlooked them.

Dimensions?
Grind?
Steel?
Handle materials?

Gotta say, I've had a number of Spydie folders over the years, but this is the first of their (all too few) fixed blades that looks good to me.

Cost??? I know its early..but Spyderco really stretched reality when they came out with the WOODLANDER/ HOSSUM design. Thier initial price was WAY outta line IMO. The woodlanders are finally at a price on the secondary market that I could afford one if I wanted a recurve....I hope these come out with a realistic pricetag.
After saying that..it look great! I will be looking into getting one when it hits the market.

That's the kind of knife I'm looking for at the moment, but I'll have to wait for the price. If it's too expensive I'd go for a Fällkniven F1 though it has no scandi grind.
Also, I'd like to see the sheath.
It's a hot candidate, that's for sure.

Approx 4" blade
Scandi grind, no micro bevel
O-1, approx 3mm thick, skeletonized fulll tang
Stabilized wood

There's no excuse to not buy both!:D

That looks like a winner of a design. The hole is a bit out of place but I also understand it is their trademark, like the Busse talen guard/hole. Spyderco doesn't do too many fixed blades, but whenever they do, they seem to come without with something very special with a lot of forthought.

Looks a lot like a Koster bushcraft... hope the price isnt too high, or it wont justify just going for the custom.

Good looking knife. I appreciate them using O-1, scandi grind, etc. and see it as a demonstration to meet specific segment of users - kudos to Spyderco.

My only apprehension is the weight of the knife for neck carry. Making it 3/32" and/or taper the tang to reduce weight. Thinner knife wields easier too. The finger choil could go away too with the shape of the handle already providing a secure grip forward and back. I actually hope it comes with a kydex sheath too.

I have been following the discussion on this one and I figured the final result would suck.

They would try to put their own twist on a bushcraft design at the expense of the utility.

From the pics it looks like I was wrong. Looks great!

Wish they'd do a VG10 too:thumbup:
