Hi guys thought I'd share this with you I took some advice of some good makers here in Oz to quit muckin' about with hardened power-hacksaw blades and get serious, so officially this is my third finished knife but the first real serious one.

Specs: 0-1
4 mm thick
Flat ground with convex edge
just shy of 100 mm blade
57-59 Rc
welded pommel
Corian scales with stainless pins

Most of it was done with hand tools, bevels are hand filed. I have a drill press and shaped some of the scales with a crappy hand-held belt sander.

I thought it came up ok, I made for my dad's 60th birthday.

Opinions are all welcome.

Thanks for looking :)

thats a great looking knife! the only thing i would change is the handle materiel. i am a big fan of natural handles.

Wow, that's a nice looking knife! Especially for your first (or third.) I sure that your dad will be thrilled.

Cheers guys,
I love a great timber over synthetic as well but I didn't have any timber that has enough interest in the grain and this stuff is pretty indestructible. The next one's mine, a standard bushcraft/scandi style, the blade's finished and heat treated just need to decide on scales again.

You thought it came out OK?

I think you passed OK before the scales were attached. That is a great looking knife.

BTW, thanks for using Corian. I work for DuPont and my pension needs all the help it can get :p.

That's a beautiful knife SB. You seem to have a flair for design as well as making. I look forward to seeing what you come up with in the future. Be sure to keep us posted.

Thanks guys,
believe me the advice that I gleaned from the net and the two makers John Foxwell and Stewart Townsend was as much the reason for it success as my part.
I will indeed post pics of my next one, I already love it and it has no handle! Damn I'm hooked!!!

Third or thirtieth...a work to be very proud of. Wonderfully useable design, yet graceful.

Very nice.

Beautifull, I would buy one, and I usually don't like customs (there are some exeptions).

Not just ok, FANTASTIC! Honestly if you had put your mark or initials to show that it was your blade I'd buy it. That really is nice. In the future would you sell one like that to me?
