Fishing 2016!!!

Haha.
We had a bunch of left over shiners from fishing for walleyes the day before. Pike and bass couldn't get enough of them on other lake. Last time trying shiners for walleye.

i love fishing and know what to use for pike for spinning/fly-fishing, but i'm a rookie when it comes to ice fishing. thanks.

i would love to do more of it, but usually i end up on the ski mountain. :o

Typically I go a foot off the bottom, but also try a few feet from the ice, if that's not working. Ice fishing is all about adjusting.

14" boot bass and mess of pike. Tried for crappie. Nothing. Anybody get any descent trout or walleyes lately?

Got out for my first 2016 trip yesterday, got a couple small hitch and a couple red ear. Water temp is a little cold still for the bluegill in the shallows, but the ones I got were quality fish in the 8-9 inch range. Also managed to get a nice little sunburn too, lol!

Sosa, that first fish looks good, what the heck you call them black flat fish! Dear lord them things are ugly. You eat those?

^^^haha. That is a California halibut. Smaller cousin of the Pacific halibut. Most of the commercial catch goes to hoity toity restaurants. Damn good eating. Whole foods had fillets for $30 a pound.

Halibut is some real tasty fish! I've been hearing of the fishing over in the bay, off Alcatraz is doing pretty good for them right now. You been seeing a lot? Nice looking fish Sosa!

Just ran across this thread. Nice catches folks! I just pond hop around here. Haven't been fishing much in 2016 yet. Spawn is here though hope to get out this weekend and get something to post. Got a pretty decent LMB on a jerkbait and few more on chatterbaits in the handful of trips this year but no pics

I hear they've been getting them off oyster point trolling. I got this one on my 2nd trip pluggin the Alameda shoreline. They have just started being caught regularly by shore anglers. The locals are very tight lipped so they could be hitting real good in Richmond but only way to find out is to scout.

Yup, nice. Not measured even? That's why keep multiple scales and measures in my box. Would have to know the measurements on that one for sure, or would go nuts. Lol Need proof for the disbelievers.Good catch. Would say at least 7lbs. Can't wait til ice is gone.

You from MN?
