Fishing 2016!!!

Yesterdays trout ready for the fire

DSCN1653.jpg

I dropped by the lake to decompress after a stressful tradeshow day, fly fishing with a small black wooly bugger in the weeds and ended up catching enough panfish to make a nice dinner. Took home a nice crappie, two blues, and a small rainbow trout. Put back a bunch of smaller sunfish. They just wouldn't leave that fly alone.

Nothing really big, but certainly big enough to make a meal of (they were delicious), and for this location, at this time of year, I'll take it.

Nice haul there Liam, just enough to make one forget the days troubles!

I posted this elsewhere last night and forgot to put it here too. I caught it last night on a Berkley Flicker Shad from shore. It's my person best walleye. We got a quick measurement, which was 26.5+". Didn't get weight, but it was full of eggs, so 7-8lbs.

that's a big walleye my friend. nice one.

I always forget about this thread, but here is something....I caught this on a very local lake. I have been Florida freshwater fishing since I was a little kid and I don't ever remember catching one of these. I had to take a pic because I had no idea what kind of fish this was. Ended up identifying it as a Warmouth. Very cool looking little fish.

What kind of fish do you need night crawlers bells and a strider to catch haha.
Judging by the TWC rod, I would say big blues

Channel Catfish that day. And if I put the bell on then I can look around an enjoy the day without missing a bite. :-) I really don't like using worms because you never know what you're going to get with them and I'm a little more specific than that, but in a pinch.. I was using blood/cheesebait earlier but didn't get any bites. No fish for me.:(

And I was threatening the fish that weren't biting with the Strider.

ps. yep it is a TWC rod but the lighter Channel Cat model, I use the blue extremes for flathead. Can't complain.

The blue extreme's were on my radar for a swimbait rod for a while. I have never heard a complaint for those rods from anyone ever

Btw. Nice stride

I've had issues with the availability and support on the TWCs so picked up some MeatHunter and WarRod rods and I really like them too.. (The WarRods are heavier than the others but I still like them in my boat.) but I'm kind of a gear whore.. :-) (Old pic, there's more now..)

Yes you should definitely remedy that!! They are fun to catch and pretty darn tasty if you like to eat fish. I caught a few of them on Sunday night and some pike too. I released everything, but I'll have to start keeping some soon. Fresh walleye fillets are sounding pretty darn good.

yeah, i've heard they are real good eating, which sounds like a good reason to try and catch one to me. Lake Champlain does have them, but they are harder to catch than other gamefish we have up here.

our walleye season reopens May 7 (it is closed Mar 15-May 7).
