Fishing, and hunting reports (share yours)

They're trying. They just banned semi-auto shotguns for hunting. I'm guessing that I probably won't be going there as often. It's MA's loss in revenue since my buddies and I spend a good deal of money on every trip.

And here I can remember back when lead shot was still legal and the shells were just wax coated paper (and I’m NOT old either) 😞

However Canada Goose smoked sausage is DELICIOUS!!!👍

Think that's only for out of state hunters, but no idea why they would draw that line.

You're right. Out of state people are also supposed to register their guns with MA before bringing them into the state. I wouldn't bother, but I have a non-resident LTC.

I'm hoping some lawsuits start slapping the state down, including the ridiculous fact that a non-resident LTC is only good for a year.

MA lost a case in the last few years when a NH resident carried a pistol without a permit in MA. The judge had an issue with non-residents being treated differently than residents when it came to the 5 year vs. 1 year term for LTCs, but nothing ever came of it. I'd assume the same would apply with guns. Why would a non-resident be subject to different laws than a resident?

Pics from last weekend’s awesome trip! I don’t know why we only do this once per year lol.

Epic sunrise Friday morning.

I caught a 23.5” laker. Too big to weigh for the tourney though (I later weighed one at 2.22#, would have taken 5th that day, but it was ever so slightly too long unfortunately, boo!).

Quesabirria tacos for dinner Friday night.

Saturday was interesting. We got 1’ of fresh snow Friday night, and it was still snowing pretty damn hard in the morning.

It finally let up around 1. Unfortunately, all the fresh snow on only 8” of ice caused quite a mess of slush.

Thanks for sharing your amazing time👍

SpyderPhreak SpyderPhreak now that’s a trip I could get behind! Looks like an absolute kickass time with multiple activities involved, that’s the only way to love winter and a lot of people just don’t understand! Hell I’m content sometimes just going out and standing in the backyard in the sun on a 15* day lol.

The bite this past weekend was slow on everything except 7” perch but I hooked into most likely a huge pike that stripped most of the line off the one reel before it thrashed enough to snap off, that’s all I need to keep me wanting to go out again.

Jsega51 Jsega51 I keep telling my wife the same thing, but she won't get on the ice with me. We used to ski, and that was pushing the limit of her cold tolerance lol.

That hole is tiny haha! 4"? I have a 7", 8", and 10" auger bit. We don't take chances, go with 10" for Lake Trout, there's always a chance of a ~35-40" fish!

Haha, it’s a 6” hole, my iPhone is zoomed out so it changes perspective some and I must commend your eye sight because that’s my wife standing out there in my 2nd pic! She stopped by the lake to see what we were catching and brought out a whole charcuterie selection of stuff for the 6 of us guys, they got a kick out of that fancy arrangement because they’re grilling venison sausage and using the god damn minnow scoop to flip the patties. Bunch of heathens lol.

So I know this is a very very slim chance, but I'm wondering if anyone in here has a hog problem or knows someone with a hog problem. I live in Utah, so Texas and Oklahoma are closest to me.

I'm looking to fill my freezer with meat and hogs are really tasty.

I have no problem paying, but I'm not a fan of the pig hunting outfitters because they nickel and dime you. I can process my own animals, I don't want to pay someone to do it based on the live weight. I don't need lodging or meals, so a guided hunt is a lot of extra cost without much benefit.

By the time you pay for all that, you may as well just buy meat from the store/butcher.

I'm an experienced hunter, I don't shoot without knowing what I'm shooting at and what's behind it. I don't leave trash, litter, or messes (I'll even take the gut piles if it's a problem to leave them).
I pick up my brass, I use a suppressor (low noise), and I can hunt at night using thermals (preferable) but I'm fine hunting during the day as well.

I'm looking and posting in hunting forums as well.

I'm taking my brother in law thermal hog/coyote hunting for his birthday next month, he doesn't know about it yet. I've used this guy four times now, his rigs are reliable (bringing my own but have used his in the past) and every time I've gone we've stacked them up. It's $300 for hogs and I tip him. Other than that there are no hidden fees. He drives you around all night in his truck and always gets hogs. Last time I hunted with him he had access to 40k acres in southern Oklahoma.

Hog problems are a blessing for guys like us and a curse for the landowner. I haven’t been able to go in quite some time but I really enjoy getting close to them during the day.

375 H&H 😃

I wish I could help. I’ve got access to a little bit of land here in southern OK but they’re not always around.

Good luck with your search.
