Fishing rods...huh?

I plan on the helium 3 but the mag 2 is interesting. And yes, MB rods are a work of art but kistler HQ is 2.5 hrs away from me so it would be much easier for warranty/repairs etc...

I had initially decided on the met hg for about 310.00 and a envy black, but just kinda like the diawa combo better plus cheaper, no experience with either as this will be my first diawa reel and first high end rod from kistler. I have a old carbon steel but nothing high end from them, never had a shimano for that matter
Went bass pro the fist time around when I didn't know much, but am looking to get into the better nicer gear. Although I will say I have a 7 year old JM elite combo that is surprisingly sensitive and smooth. Really quite a nice combo for the money...I guess.....what do I know....lol

Makes sense about the rod. I've almost pulled the trigger on a Kistler a couple times.

I've tried a few brands of reels and capped it at 200. Only lower end daiwa excelers, quantum energy, couple revos gen 1 and 2 but my favorites are my scorpions. The 1000xt is the best jerkbait and light plastic reel I can throw any size hard bait. I'm sure that zillions going to blow you away. I been wanting to try a Tatula or alphas SV but I started spending $ on knives lol I even sold a scorpion.

Funny once I got back into fishing my first (high end at the time) combo was a JM Carbonlite and President spinning combo that's still going strong.

Have you found hedge hog studios yet? A buddy customizes his stuff, kinda like pimping a blade...I've only ever put a longer handle on but the stuff is cool to check out.

Hedge hog studios is the devil...lol....I HAVE to stay away from that site...I don't have enough money to even vist that site.
..hahaha

And what's funny is some guys have NO problem spending 4-600 on a sebenza, but would never even think about that on other equipment...to each his own

Right my father in law buys all kinds of nice guns, and gets a $25 Schrade. Lol I am kinda in the middle. I'll spend around 200 on a rod, a reel, or blade but I do lust after all the above in the 400 plus range hahahaha The guy that pimps his reels thinks I'm nuts for buying a knife for over a hundred bucks and putting custom scales on it, yet he just plopped almost 500 down to buy and pimp a new steez. He uses kershaw and crkt blades lol

Yeah I just window shop at hedgehog lol

I always get a kick out of those kinda people as well. They think I'm crazy for spending 500 on a setup but I can't bring myself to spend 600 on a handgun. Btw...it's not like I am getting 5 of these setups, this is my plastics, bottom contact rig. Since I t rig 80% of the time I think it needs to be REALLY good and sensitive in my book, the other 5 rigs I am getting are a variety of tatula rod and reels for each technique

Yeah I hear you, I love to throw the T-rig myself, love to toss ribbontail worms or creatures. It is my number two behind spinnerbaits/chatterbaits. The tatula rods are supposed to be good. I almost got one but passed and picked up a veracity. I liked it but the lock nut was uncomfortable. I moved on to Cashion. Hey have you purchased those rods yet? The place were alot of the guys on the bass forums get their rods are beat the big box boys dot com. Ron Schmidt is the guy to talk to, he will make you some great deals if you talk to him over the phone. Save like 25 per Rod. He sells tatula reels too.

Huh...that place is full retail, same as tackel warehouse. EBay got them for 100.00

He will only wheel and deal over the phone only. He got himself burned before (breaking mrsp) any way yeah The deal he gave me was 95 for a veracity plus 25 to ship, the daiwa was 10 or so higher. ebays good too my only hesitation is shipping. Some folks don't know how to pack rods.

Huh, never really thought about that. I may have to check him out then. That would sucks to get a broken rod

I'm a huge fan of custom rods... I bought my first custom rod last year from Adrenaline Custom Rods down in south Fl for my offshore rig. That said, my second favorite rod is my Shimano Trevala... That thing is built with some serious backbone!

What is your price range? Looks like about 250 ...with that said I'd go the megabass xx range if you can muster up 50 more. Look into the extreme mission type f. I promise you it will blow any rod mentioned here out of the water.

I will. I had looked at that one before but was ki da confused on MB terminology, you know how that is with them.
That is the orochi xx you are talking about right

It is also interesting that TT gave the helium 3 a better score than the MB xx. Wonder why

What are you confused on exactly? Tt scores are not anything anyone should go off of when trying to purchase a rod. Zander reviewed the he3. Cal reviewed the dsr and wholbugger reviewed the sbs. The sensitivity of the emtf is extremely high for a 300 dollar rod. It's better than glx if you have ever used one. Alot of people say it's right up there with an nrx 893. I have had and still have all those high end rods including evergreen and in can tell you you metanium will be right at home on the xx emtf. Especially for trigs and senkos

I like the stats on the type F but not a fan of the longer rods, especially since I mostly bank fish......Here are the new ones that dropped over in JP recently, cannot find the engrish page for some reason, but the Bandersnacth is up my alley.

The prices are not bad on them either they range from 295 up to 350 depending on length and features, but right in the orichi xx price territory. MB recently changed the shipping rates too I think they are now 6 bucks for products and 25 for rods, but might be mistaken. I know they were charging like 12 for products placing pop-x orders. Outlet store is soooo cheap.

Those destroyer rods are a freaking work of art. Now I am familiar with them from what all I have read says they practically worshiped by most angler's

The only sad thing is they are not in the length and action I need....boohoo

Also, what are your views on the zillion sv tw vs the met hg, just curious.

When I said I was confused it was on thier rod designation with all those crazy names he gives them and what action power they translated to

The only other problem I see getting a rod from Japan is if there is any warranty claims that have to be made, that would suck

That Orichi emtf is calling your name! :D
There are some pretty good sales at tackle warehouse right now, you can grab a dobyns dx for 240. Among other rods.
