I've often seen fishing gear included in various versions of PSK's and BOB's.

As with a lot of things, success isn't so much about what gear you have but rather how its used. Knowledge that is built up through experience (ie time on the water)

So who likes to fish, I know I do :D in both fresh water....

I used to fish A LOT when younger, I think it's time for me to get back into it. I love to cook it (and eat it) too! Beer and fish....yum

Great pics! I love to fish. Mostly freshwater, but I get a couple of Saltwater trips in every now and then.

Yes they can get big (around 40Kg and over a meter long). Barra put up a great fight and are delicious too :D

Kind regards
Mick

Sweet! I here they hit artificial lures regularly also! Going to Australia has always been a dream of mine. Barra fishing is certainly on the to do list.

Thank you!

Kev- Nice Tautog. They're delicious! Somehow I always miss the spring bite for them and get stuck fishing for them in the late fall. Still alot of fun pulling them out of their holes though!

G'day Kev & Tony

Great pics guys, keep them comming

With regards to Barra and lures, yes they do readily take lures. It's an amazing adrenaline rush to have a popper smashed by a barra :D

Kind regards
Mick

Southerncross, flyfishing for carp? That sounds like some kind of fun. Looks like your pretty good at it from the pictures too! I have to ask though, what the #@!! is that thing with a knife in it's head? I know you boys from down under have some funky critters but dang dude?! Do you eat that thing??

Tony, I love seeing your fishing pics. I'm getting closer to that peacock fishing trip. I'm still a few years away but I was looking at guides last night for trips to the Amazon. I can't wait for that trip. I want to catch some big peacocks and there are a few other fish down there I'd love to sink a hook in as well.

K Estela, I wish I had the sea legs to fish for some of those big off shore fish. I have tried it and it was fun but the puking over the side of the boat just isn't my thing. I sure wish I could last for a couple of days out there though. I'm envious.

Here are just a couple of my pictures. Actually they are of my little fishing buddy. He is 6 now. His little sister has been bugging us to go on some of our trips. She is 3 now. I'll probably take her on an overnighter soon. She loves fishing but two little ones on the same trip (with me by myself) is a handful.

Here is one if him with a 25 1/2" rainbow he caught last spring

This is one with some friends-I love seeing the kids catching fish and having fun outdoors

That fish that Mick stabbed lookes like a Scate or Sea Robin.(Different names same fish) We have them all over the shores of the U.S. I could be wrong though as the angle isn't the best.

Yeah there are alot of great fish to be caught in the Amazon, I hope to catch half of them. I am heading back to Venezuela in June, I am praying I can afford a trip to Amazon....

When it gets closer to time for my trip I may be getting in touch with you for some advice. I have just over 3 1/2 yrs. until I retire. That trip is going to be my retirement gift to myself.

I don't get to the coast very often and we don't have anything that looks like that here in Oklahoma. We do have our share of ugly fish though.

I hear those pirahna bit good on steak...I'm looking forward to catching all of those bizarre fish.

I'll be happy to help anyway I can. My best advice is to learn a little spanish. The English speaking guides I have met don't know a whole lot of English.....

I really want to catch a 20lb Peacock, but a Payara is also on my wish list!

G'day SDS

Fly fishing for carp is great fun especially when you use a 4wt fly rod :D

AnotherFlatheadforthetable1.jpg

This fish is locally called a flathead (original heh :D)

They are ambush predators that will lie mostly buried in sand or mud and rely on a combination of camo and concealment to ambush small fish & prawns that swim by. Very good eating too

I'm a fishing fool. All freshwater for me, though. Mostly fish for bass and panfish, but lately have started fishing for catfish a bit and trout when in the mountains.
