Fixed blade camping knife that you actually use

I used an USAF Pilot's Survival Knife in the issue leather sheath, small whetstone and all for close to two decades for 90% of my wilderness and hunting needs before the internet convinced me that I needed better steel. Now my son has that same knife.
Next I bought a Fallkniven A1 in solid VG-10 off of E-bay for $85.00. It is a primo all purpose wilderness knife but a little large for some small detailed work.
My next jump was to a British "Woodlore" clone Stewart Marsh Knife but that is way beyond your budget.
My day to day wood craft knife these days is a Bark River Nebula or Aurora. They do the job rather well but even used they would still bust that $80.00 budget.

Looking back over the years nothing I use today beats that old USAF knife by enough margin to say it was a "bad knife."

Remember what my screen name stands for.

There is no blade that holds the power, no knife that you can buy that will replace skill and determination. Any reasonably strong blade that will not break under field use, hold an edge in normal usage, not lose its edge to rust overnight, and will strike a spark from native flint will more than do the job. Don't flinch at a surplus military knife like a USAF or US Marine survival knife. They will do the job I know from experience, cheap to.

F1 is my go-to, all-arounder. The laminated version (VG-10 sandwiched between 420J) can be had at knifeworks for $83 with zytel sheath. Hard to beat that value. This knife can do it all.
