Fixed Blade Dilemma?

My son is on the lookout for a plain blade 903 with the coffin handle..One of the biggest bladed Bucks.

Plain blade? Is it the 903 that is all blade with a small handle. I know a knife called the Undertaker (not important who builds it) is built like that. Seems a popular configuration?

I love the 124 good selection. I have a few.
The 916 is a good looker I don't see how this knife could be useful though .
I don't use many of my knives as they are just to nice to use for me so they go in the display.
I bring a a Buck Hood Thug when camping
Though I still don't think it's ever been used.
It permanently resides in a camping/ bugout bag in my truck.
Mostly I just use my spitfire for everything.

My Buck 110’s get used every day. To the point of wearing them out. I have to make a conscious effort to carry a different knife. The 110 is all the knife I’ve ever needed. Other than kitchen knives.

The 124 is fun to carry and a joy to use.

I bounce from one of the 110-112 configurations 90% of the time. Fg,LT,Slim or Auto.
Honestly I don’t think i have enough time left on this earth to collect all the Bucks i have since learned exists?
But i will do my best! :D

I received it today and I am sorely disappointed with Buck's QC on this one. Terribly ground bevels on the edge that are uneven and wonky not to mention the scuffs all over the bolsters. (Its also ground pretty far off the center line when looking down the spine). Not sure how well it will come across in the pictures but if you look at the rear of the cutting edge near the sharpening choil there is a large sized "smile" and the show side of the blade has a curved up grind near the choil that the back side does not have. I realize it is a working knife and not a high-end piece but did I get a lemon or am I expecting too much? I only own one other Buck I acquired 20 years ago which I still have, a 110 4 dot folder. I apologize for the low quality cell phone pictures.

Edge of life,
1) I would have started a new thread as this is not on topic.
2) as with anything I purchase if I am not happy with it I send it back to whomever I bought it from .
3) Even if you are being picky you always have the option of sending it directly back to Buck explanation what's wrong with it and they Will make it right.
4)as you mentioned this a production knife
The bolster scuffs could have happened during shipping. And could be easily cleaned up .
5)
The edge is off a little not thinking I would be worrying about it as a couple of sharpenings from me in it will look much worse.
6) bottom line if your not happy send it back.

I was under the impression this thread was about bucks smaller fixed blades but i suppose it probably warranted a new post. while i can always send it back or complain to Buck, i was more wondering if this was typical of Buck as far as the edge which was my main concern really as its not something that is easily fixed with sharpening. The bolsters could be polished easy enough. I guess i had high hopes but Its probably one of the worst edges ive seen even for a production knife let alone made in USA. If i had the knife replaced could i expect something better or is this typical Buck? Otherwise I wont bother and will just flip it.
