Fixed Blade Dilemma?

Such beautiful knives Buck has produced. One of my favorites is the Barrel Nut 119s
Robust 440c blade, surprised me it is larger than the current 119. The stock sheath is about 1/4 too short. Ground down guard. Joe H hit it out of the park with these.

A close 2nd is the Buck Yellow jacket. By our own Hengem, (Caleb.)

The trouble is you eventually get them all because you can’t decide (you really can’t make a bad choice), then you face this exact same dilemma every time you want to strap one on. Which one should I use today?

The reality? A 110 is all the knife you’ll ever need. Throw in a 119 or a 124 and all your bases are covered. Ed

Love all this eye candy. Instead of a “What are you carrying today”thread, maybe it should be a “which knife are you most proud to own Today”? Of course that changes daily with the mood you are in i’m sure?

I took this to show you the 117 special and how it fills in the gap between the 102 and 119.. it’s a great size knife.

Didnt see the 117 listed? Has it been discontinued? How is it different to the 118? Blood groove?

The 117 was made as a small Brahma with the leather washer handle. Then it was made as a limited run with a bright blade phenolic handle version. It is still available. Search for 117 special. It’s smaller than a 118.

You need to figure out what blade shape you want then the blade size after. I appreciate your enthusiasm but you are all over the map.

Ed

The Buck 117 & Buck 118 have very similar handle size and shape - the blade on the 118 has a nice belly for skinning deer and other big game whereas the 117 has a straight blade (it's a scaled back 119 or a scaled up 102). I like having the sweep of the 118 for a skinning knife. For a general woods knife the 117 may suit you better. OH

I am a world traveler that’s for sure. Don’t know if I will have them all but a few mor will find homes at my house. OH you have opened my eyes to the what i think will be the winner in that 3 knife picture above. 117 is a mini 119 and i love the blood groove look of that blade. So after i get my “birthday 124 Frontiersman” I will begin ploting/scheming for the 117. Anniversary is in June ;)

Eveled i see you also posted a version of old hunters comparison of the 117. I either missed it or forgot. Thanks
