Fixed Blade & Folder Combo

I'm turning my interest from folders to fixed blades But Why carry a fixed blade that is even smaller than the folder, as shown by many posts in this thread?

The fixed blades that I have now include ESEE 3 and 6, architect field buddy 5.5 3v, and lionsteel t5. What am I missing?
I'll echo BigKurtHaze. I don't hesitate to grab a larger fixed blade if I am doing something that necessitates it, such as yard work, camping, etc. However, for usual EDC tasks, a smaller fixed blade is much easier to carry.

That makes sense though I wonder for edc (which involves only light duty tasks) what advantages a tiny fixed blade has over a folder. I can understand personal preference but what else.

I find the lack of a pivot area, means I don't have to clean peanut butter, salami grease, blood, pocket lint, dirt, gunk, etc, from that critical area of the knife. Fixed blades are easier to maintain over long periods in less than ideal straits in regards to not having a pivot. For nasty jobs, fixed blades, too.
