If you do it get a kydex sheath, as was mentioned. IWB might be more comfortable. The knife isn't going to break. The material used to enclose it will be at risk. Kydex is really the best option. That means you'll need two hands for a draw. Setting it up IWB to a belt will facilitate one hand draw.
-In regards to the 'one hand' draw,
I believe that it depends on the sheath
design, as well.
As I can think of three, so far, of my kydex
sheaths that allow the knife to be deployed
one handed, however mounted, with a
'push / pull' method, where generally the
thumb pushes away, (against a part of the
sheath), as the rest of the four fingers
grip the knife handle & pull out.
Perhaps finger dexterity plays a part,
and/or a practiced method,
but again, depending on the sheath design.
*To the O.P., however, It sounds as though you have Much to learn, in regards to the Martial Arts, weapons handling ,training, etc.
Q. Do you really think your going to be able
to move, or evade an attack effectively,
or even run away, with a bat stuffed into
your pantleg ? Execute an effective kick,
with your mobility hampered ?
Also, your comment about a 12", & 4"
blade was confusing, in that any size
edged weapon, (In the properly trained
hand) is dangerous.
-And my opinion on trying to carry a large
Bowie or similar fixed blade in your front
pocket is not only innefficient, & more
likely to be taken away from you, but
probably illegal.
-The 'status symbol' comment made
Completely No Sense, Whatsoever,
So, leaving it alone...
I've already spent far to much time
in this thread, so I'm just going to give
you some advice 'young grasshopper'
