Fixed blade knife survey

Busse Steelheart II E for sure in one of those cool olive drab sheaths;) hee hee Glad to see the forum up again!

It all depends upon the uses required...

Heavy chopping-CS LTC Kukri

Light chopping and a lot of other general stuff-Lee Bowie

General camp chores-Simonich Kanji (project blade)

Don't get me wrong. I have more than a few fixed blade knives suitable for camping ranging from a huge Hayes 52100 camp knife to a Simonich talonite Chinook. They are all fantastic knives and i wouldn't hesitate to rely on them for my survival.
But all things considered, including my willingness to beat it to death: Busse Steelheart II [straight handle].

I would choose the HI, YCS with its accessories. That set up covers all needs in the field. IMHO.

yea ,
the brute wins in my book, has held up to every thing i have done to it and it is laughing at me with "is that all you got"" kind of smirk.

alex:)

Steelheart IIE

Busse Battle Mistress (E). Can I have Ranger Tomahawk too? ;)
Oh go on pleesssse... :D

Phill.

For myself, I'd go with my Gerber multi-tool, as it has all the functions of the SAK Rucksack, plus a few others. For a fixed blade, it would be my Campanion. Small enough to carry easily, yet is still a good chopper. And, as has been pointed out, the BK&T line is nigh-indestructible. If I'm only going to be "allowed" two tools, I want them to be the best, sturdiest, and most useful ones I can get. These two fit that bill perfectly.

Busse Steel Heart/E or Chris Reeve Project One, depending on how much chopping the terrain and flora lent itself to. Both will chop well but the SH/E will chop !

Since I'm already allowed an SAK, I would want the biggest chopper around for heavy work. Therefore, I would choose a Gransfors Bruks axe first :) and a Busse BattleMistress second.
