Fixed Blade to keep in my car trunk

Beat me to it. Buck Mesa. Don't look on the Buck site. Look on the WalMart site. Just what you're looking for. If you can do hollow ground. I'm liking mine more, the more I use it.

Oh hey wait a minute. I just realized.

How about a Buck Mesa?

Way below budget, Buck's 420hc is awesome, fits your preferred blade length, and you get the micarta scales you want.

This actually checks off every one of your boxes and is made in USA and way below budget to boot. Win/win all around.
Yes. +1

I also would not spend more than $80-$100 for a use-it-once-every-three-years trunk knife.
I personally liked the BK9 suggestion (seriously though, a coat of renaissance wax on it and that thing will stay shiny and "wicked shahp"!) but stainless is obviously wise. I don't mind the 119 too much, I just wish it didn't feel like it would slip out of my hand. But it sure won't rust away and it's a great price point.
Me, if I wanted what you're asking (and I pryed myself away from another BK9 in favor of the stainless benefit) I'd look at either OKC's Mark 3 dive knife or the Gerber strongarm.
My only beef with the 119 is the grip, YMMV. It's a solid performer otherwise.

I personally like to stick with US made or Western Europe made blades. I've had bad experience with SOG, but that was with a folder........my finger still feels funny.
:Edited to add that the Glock knife does seem perfectly suited for this role as well.
Lots of good options.

I want to get a dedicated fixed blade to keep in my car to handle any emergency situation. I am not planning on using it for anything in particular, but I want something that should be able to handle anything reasonable.

If anyone remembers my threads, I originally had a Lionsteel M390 fixed blade with wood handles but I don't think the wood handles will hold up.
You remind me of myself. At some point you just need to be fine with things not being perfect. I have a knife in my truck that I never use. Originally it was a bugout knife, not it is just a backup.

I'd say Gerber Strongarm, but if you want something different, try the Ka Bar D2 Extreme.

It'll come with a black Kydex sheath, D2 steel, and it'll probably roll around back there happily for generations.

I think I have gotten down to the Buck 119, Buck 632 Mesa, Buck 863 Selkirk and the SOG Seal Elite Pup.

I am honestly leaning toward the Selkirk even though I wish it was slightly larger. I might get a second bowie / clip point to keep in my trunk as well.

I keep a Dee Kistner - Tragen in my truck. It's in the price range and a heavy duty handmade that is tough as nails.

I kept an ESEE knife that I left a very generous coat of coconut oil. Year later, no rust and the oil didn't dry out.

Both the Mesa and Selkirk have micarta scales, but the Mesa is cheaper, has Bos HT, fits your size requirements, and is made in USA. Why pick Selkirk over the Mesa?

I like the thicker stock on the Selkirk and I'm not a fan of recurves.

If you are looking at Buck check out the Reaper. Great truck knife. With a nylon sheath.

If you're gonna keep something in your trunk, make it something that might actually get used:

Kbar/Becker TacTool - pry cut, hack, slash, and unless you actually need the pointy end, it's more versital than your standard fixed blade. But it's 1095, so just oil it before letting it roll around back there.

Or even better...

Innovation Factory Trucker's Friend - part axe, part pry bar, part hammer, and all bad-assery! Unless you actually need a knife in the trunk, this thing actually has the potential of really being used more than once a decade. I must admit, I want one for my truck

Honestly of the Three knives you posted the SOG Pillar is your best bet. The CPM S35VN is a very tough Stainless that will hold an edge and is about the same toughness as O1 Tool Steel. Keep in mind it has an excellent sheath system, a 90 degree spine, and a pommel for non lethals or hammering things if need be. Also keep in mind if combat comes your way the Pillar is designed for that as well. The Pillar was made to be a true survival knife.

P.S Now if you plan on getting a knife and just throwing it in your trunk to forget about, then get a Gerber Strongarm.
