Good Day Knife Lovers,

I have recently gotten obsessed with finding great edc fixed blades. I have found a few that might make the cut but i need to hear more from you guys about this. I am posting this thread is because i have noticed so much love for ESEE, Becker and Bark River in this category. I understand there are good reasons for this. Very popular blades such as those may steal well deserved attention from other awesome blades out there. This is the time for all the underdogs to come out! I'm hoping a lot of you guys are interested in this topic as much as i am.

This is why i have come up with rules for this thread:

Post your recommendation for an EDC fixed blade. Limitations are listed below

a.) ABSOLUTELY NO TALK ABOUT ESEE, BECKER, BARK RIVER KNIVES
b.) MAX OAL 6.5"
c.) Carry options would be greatly appreciated
d.) Customs with great prices are greatly appreciated
e.) In case there are questions like "What will the knife be used for?" I ask for standard capabilities of every knife, as well as batoning.
f.) Photos are always LOVED.

Custom would be the way to go since there are a lot of great knife makers in the knife makers market. Bradshaw blades is one of my favorite makers that makes knives that look good but are still affordable and usable, they are not over pretty to where you fell guilty using them. He makes a wide variety of designs. Just about all of his edc knives have a great designed pocket sheath.

Care to specify a model from Bradshaw blades?

Get a busse, I dont own one, but they are tough for sure. Knifetestnoss on youtube does a great destruction test of blades, and the busse is a beast!

Please note specific models. Sorry i was not clear on that. I've checked out Bradshaw blades and have found non within the Overall length constraints.

JK Knives! Model name is Skeleton knife.
5 7/8" overall, with a 2 3/8" blade of 1/8" O1 steel. He also makes nice leather pocket sheaths.

Before you carry any fixed blade I would check the laws, especially if you are planning on carrying in Seattle...

Noted and not to worry. Seattle only prohibits fixed blades in furtive carry. I carry mine in my pocket where everyone can see it. It's a huge debate in this city but the general rule is you can carry literally anything as long as you aren't bothering anyone with it.

The Fallkniven WM-1 is great, althought slightly longer than your specified overall maximum at 6.8"

It's one of the few production neck knives or pocket fixed blades with something close to a full size handle. It comes in VG-10 or 3G, with either a leather or Zytel sheath. I love mine (an older VG-10 model), it's a fantastic little knife.

Crappy picture next to an F1 for scale.

A.G. Russell has a couple of very nice, and affordable, EDC fixed blades. The blades are thin, which has pros and cons. I'm partial to the Woodswalker with the leather pocket sheath (it's also available with a smaller kydex sheath). Mine's VG-10, I think the newer ones are AUS8 and still made in Japan.

I've considered the WM1 before. Really exciting knife! Unfortunately, and you guessed it, can't carry it due to my pocket size. I was about to get it for a hiking knife but i chose the spyderco enuff leaf over it. It was a very close call as they are very similar.

Really stoked on the Woodswalker! Totally a homerun knife for the price. It sucks that they dont make it in VG10 anymore (as far as i know). This is high on the list so far!

I'm pretty sure that the smallest fixed blade I own is a Dozier Modified Personal. It's just a smidge over your length limit; but I highly recommend it for EDC.

Keep it coming, guys! All great inputs. There have been some suggestions that are over my strict personal length limit that i'm very sure can help other members viewing this thread. Do please try to keep the 6.5 limit though. I will post my own setup soon :D

Some of the knifemakers here on the forums are excellent.
Jason Wilder's neck knives are awesome - currently my favourite knife is one of his drop point finger neckers in 52100. Probably a bit small to baton with though.
DCL makes excellent knives as well. He does great work with 3V and his knives are often specifically made for pocket carry ("pocket fixed blades").
Matt Bailey also makes excellent pocket fixed blade knives, often in Damascus or W2 (I think)

Having said that - any mistakes in the above are my mistakes and not those of the named knifemakers :)

It is seriously worth spending a couple of hours looking at threads in the Fixed Blades for sale section of the exchange.

I don't carry mine often, but it is an awesome little fixed blade. The ergos are pretty good for being so small, and the G10 is colorful. The sheath is leather, and lacks in the retention area. Belt or pocket carry only--not neck carry because of the sheath.

Small-batch handmade knives by independent makers are awesome too

This is a Stitch (formerly known as Oakleaf) "Acorn" in ELMAX at 62 HRC
