Fixed Blades You EDC?

I'll post pics when my photobucket starts letting me copy links again, but here's the fixed blades I carry.

A micro neck knife I made myself from an old hobby file ( I call it the constant carry 2.5" )
An old Imperial H6
A ca 1968 western model f48a
A rehandled Mora that started life as a #711
A sog seal pup
And a benchmark backpacker.

I carry the neck knife every single day, but a regular belt knife is not something I always carry. I usually pick a whole weeks edc ( now Mon-fri then something else on the weekend ) and the weeks carry may or may not be one of my fixed blades paired with a folder.

Yeah you must post a pick of the "Constant Carry". I would love to see it.

How do you like the streetbeat?

I like the look of subtle. I don't need to scare anyone. lol.

Never carried an ESEE knife. How do you like that company?

Street beat is an amazing knife. In many ways it is the better knife to the Guardian 3. The Street Beat is better for concealing for urban carry due to the G clip. If I wear it in waitband at about 3 oclock position it is so comfortable I can wear it hidden the whole day without it being annoying. I think the comfort of wearing a fixed blade in its sheath is one of the most important and often overlooked factors of a fixed blade.

My only complaint is the sheath dulls the edge if you aren't careful how you draw the knife. Other than that it gets very sharp. I have the lightweight model as I keep it for a self defense/utility knife and I wanted a knife I would be happy to give a rough bruising to. The more expensive street beat is literally a custom level knife. The size is perfect for EDC too.

I definitely will when I can, but I have to warn you that it's only 2.5" long and is about as simple as a knife could possibly be, so don't expect to be blown away :D
I've posted pics of it quiet a while ago ( if I could find them I'd post a link ) and because it's so small and simple nobody ever even gives it a second thought.

Fixed blade carry?
bacustomknives - scary carry & personal utility
Malanika - Hunter & Puukko
CPK - EDC
Spyderco - CPM-4V Mule

There are others that get time - such as a Bark River Mini Fox River, Malanika EDC/Necker, Guardian 3 (and 4) - but it's the ones from the first group that I usually carry.

Honestly sonce I live in the city the Brous Blades Silent Soldier Ranger is my most carried fixed blade. I love the Fred Perrin La Griffe type knives too but the Silent Soldier is the better overall knife as its width at the spine and tip make it an absolute bombproof knife. At the same time it has excellent cutting geometry.

Those serrations are mean

I have an orginal Ka-Bar from ww2. Thing is a freaking beast. Take care of it and it'll take care of you.

This one is actually a custom by Dawson. Blade is 1/4" differentially hardened 5160. Its a beast for sure!

Now I'm undecided. Black Rivers or G3

Have no experience with the Black River, but I can tell you the G3 is a fantastic small work knife.
Mine is 3v and it will take whatever you throw at it.
Also, Brad Larkin, owner, is an absolute gentleman and a pleasure to deal with.
Good luck and let us know what you wind up with!

Here are a few of my EDCs and a couple I use when about the yard or in the woods.

First up a recent gift from a friend here on BFC, a JK Knives (Element) EO1 Semi Wharncliffe Hunter. Black and purple G10 attached with a mosaic pin and brass thong hole , (matches my original BM 730 Ares in the same color) O1 steel with about a 3" blade that's all business. This sucker,

Bought in the mid 80s from Bud Nealy at one of the first ECCKS/NYCKS on the east coast. Bud Nealy Aikuchi also in O1, used to be hot blued O1 but that was over 30 years ago you can see all the wear from EDC. Black Linen Micarta slabs, dovetailed into the bolsters and pinned to a distally tapered tang. Been by my side every day like a good ECD FB should. Originally bought as an SD piece but was so tough it became a utility knife that has done everything so far but thankfully never used or pulled in an SD capaity.

Second yard/outdoor knife, Poster Bushcraft knife with a true scandi grind, Canvas micarta scales, (i forget the steel) nestled into an Ed Alpern Leather sheath I converted to a dangler. This came to me from another friend and I took the toothy edge to a semi polished one. This is one seriously sharp and tough knife. I go to cut grass, clean up down my trail along the stream or just play in the woods, this is my current choice.

My other backyard and woodsy knife, you can see all the use it gets. :) Effington Illinois EK #5 Combat Bowie. If there was only gonna be one, this would probably be it. It's great at all tasks with the exception of batoning, the spine wasn't designed to pound on, while it will work, there are many other knives better suited to that task. This is a light, well balanced very quick knife, once you use one you'll never want another

With another companion, Dozier Arkansas Toothpick in D2 only like Bob can do it, all I can say is this knife is all business and is a designated SD knife that thankfully has never been called into play.

I just threw this one in for fun, I originally bought it to throw in my BOP (Bug Out Pack) It's an original Benchmark SOS which never saw a lick of work and just sits wrapped up and stashed in the BOB as a back up. :)
