My CPE MagnaCut Tanto has been my favorite EDC fixed blade since I got it- just a fantastic knife. My Volunteer Knife Mod 4 in 3V is my newest and just makes me smile handling it. These sized fixed blades are just awesome for so many things. SDFK and M2 for size comparison.B7717224-1CC7-4D29-8D3D-86E6AE8FD6F8.jpeg

I dunno guys, the Hudson Bay Company was founded well before Jim Bowie was born...
Did mr.bowie steel (lol) a pattern from the hudson bay company 🤣

Interesting, to date I've never seen a patten in use attributed to HBC. I'd wager as fur traders they used many knives, but if I'm not mistaken they bought the furs, the indians and trappers hunted the animals and processed them. So which knives did the traders use?

Post 15 has a picture that works (for me at least) from Charlie with a really nice example.
It does look very bowie'esque. I always get multi use kitchen knives vibe off this design. Back then I'd guess they pressed the knives into many roles at home or out in the wilderness.

I don't disagree, when I see them I picture a Green River butcher knife on steroids... I kinda spit balled the idea to David over the phone the other day, and that's where we wound up.
