Fixed blades

You've imprinted the Tops Steel Eagle series in my head pretty solid with all your pics ;) I like the looks of this small one alot. At what size does it feel right to you? You have used all sizes iirc :D

Wish they came a little cheaper on this side of the pond

For me, the 107 feels "right". Honestly, I can't say whether that's more "preference" or just simple familiarity.

When I first got into larger/overbuilt/robust fixies, I remember how big the 107 felt to me. Now, with all the large knives that I own, the 107 just feels like your average jack-of-all-trades "field knife". I post that because I think that "right" will obviously be subjective, and possibly more a matter of perspective. If you're coming from a Mora Basic or similar lightweight camp/pack knife, the 105 is going to feel like a tank, with the 107 feeling like a nuclear bomb. If you're coming from a BK-2 or similar, neither will be that big of a jump.

There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the 105. It shares the exact same dimensions as the 107, with the length of the blade being the only exception. So, if you're one of those guys who measures every inch of real estate in your pack or kit, the 105 may be the better option. As far as weight, you'll just have to disregard that consideration with either. Both of 'em weigh only slightly less than a boat anchor.

Happy hunting!

*EDIT- I'm always amazed at how y'all get slaughtered on the pricing of "Made in the U.S.A." products over there. Sheesh!

I've had a 105C and 105E since their initial release. Hell, one of 'em is #50 in production. However, as you referenced in your earlier post, neither has seen a lot of hard use. I've mostly just had them on my belt while running-around on the tractor or walking some fence lines.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, I have been using my 107s for years and have (*quite literally) hundreds of hours under the sky between the ones that I own. Since the 105s are basically just shorter versions of their 107 brothers, I can't imagine these behaving or performing much differently. Because of the shorter size, batoning and chopping will probably be a bit different, obviously. However, other than de-limbing, I rarely chop with my 107s.

I foresee the 105s being stellar performers and capable of giving BK&T and ESEE/Rowen a run for their money. Your mileage may vary.
Thank you. You get what you pay for.
I have no idea why, but his song "Almost Home" always makes me a little teary-eyed.

Gorgeous knife!
You mentioned "his" but I don't see the "he". Assuming you are referring to Craig Morgan. If so, I so understand. If not, check it out.

Alone Alone - thank you so very much for loaning us the JG5 and Joker! We had a lot of fun with them, brother! I very much appreciate your generosity and patience. I know it’s been a long time coming.

I’ll get your blades in the mail early this coming week - hell, you’re so close I could almost throw em to ya.😉😆

Hey Brother, I wanted to respond to this last night but was pretty deep in the bottle.

Man, your review was outstanding(!), and TOTALLY worth any kinda' delay that you thought you may've exposed me to. (*which you didn't, by the way) If you and your boy enjoyed those knives, I'm ABSOLUTELY a happy camper!

Thanks for all the time and effort you put into the comparison. It's quite obvious that it took some work.
