Fixed blades

If this is a BF no-no, sorry for the faux pax. I just know that a lot of you guys in this thread buy and use various steel plate offerings on the regular, and didn't want to start a thread for a single question...

A few years back, I was looking to get a very large 8670 blade built and found that the maximum available stock thickness was .225". If I remember correctly, ALL the knife makers that I contacted informed me that the thickest 8670 stock that they could acquire was .225".

I'm currently looking at an 8670 knife that is offered in 1/4" thickness.

Did I not get the memo? Is 8670 plate now offered in thickness beyond .225"?

Thanks in advance.

Meant to post this the other day but that damn thing called work got in the way..

Wonn Blade - This is his “chopper” model. About 6 inches of blade and an equal portion of handle at a hair under 1/4 stock 8670. I’ve only used this one a little and can say it cuts and carves better than it should and chops like a hatchet. Choke back for power and choke up to carve. One of the nicest makers I’ve had a chance to speak with. I believe he’s ex Military from the days of the Rhodesian Army and now lives in British Columbia - Very nice tools built for function with zero gimmick.

I’ll try to find a fire hydrant and let you know how it splits
