Fixed blades

I rarely see a custom shop as a user, I love it. My personal thing is, I buy coated and then strip them, I like the coating being left under the handle where rust actually can and does form over time if exposed to moisture which all my blades do(get exposed to moisture). A side effect of buying the coated blades and stripping is it's cheaper, but price isn't the reason I buy them.

That one looks like a perfect BBQ or meat knife. 😍
Coward… lol jk. 😂

It makes sense. I might go that route too but i don’t like the extreme contours most of the Busse handles have. A lot of the custom shop offerings leave them fuller. That plus i don’t have to strip the coatings. That is good to know about the rust under the handles.

Financially it is much wiser. Using custom shop knives seems to kill the resale value which is unfortunate.

I think it was zombieassassin zombieassassin who bought my nmsfno and stripped it, it looked great.

Shots fired 🤣

Funny thing is, the bodyguard that Ben Seward made for me was absolutely artwork level beautiful and I use that thing HARD and you can barely see the hamon unless you are looking at the right angle.

That is true on the resale of the customs, I don't factor resale in on my knives as I use them and if I sell them I list them as users and take a hit on them. Even the ones I really didn't use, but they may have been clinking around the drawer with other knives so not "mint" I list as a user.

The crinkle coating melts off with citristrip, the cerakote not so much. Prepare for lots of elbow grease. I don't think it's a big issue for the under handle rust, you could go a life time even with the rust under there and it never compromise integrity, I'm just slightly ocd.

Use it! 🤣 I'm a terrible influence and have only ever made money on the sale of 1 knife? In the last almost 13 years lol I can't help myself, use that beauty!

View attachment 2721776I did get to chop at this piece of Fir and take this pic, but then something came up. I don’t think i’ll be batoning any hard oak, even though i know it could handle it, it just doesn’t seem like a fun experience and feels like abuse.
I understand the reservations on beating that thing through the knotty oak, but trust me, the knife is fine. I've seen infi flex in knotty wood, and you look at it like wtf! But pound it through and it's straight as an arrow. It is an arm work out on really knotty wood though. In all my abuse to busse blades I've only ever bent one that took a set. It really should have snapped, most other knives would have, but it survived with a set. Busse replaced it

I’m sure the knife is up for the workout, i’m not though! 😂
