Fixed blades

Bark River Bravo 6 gen 2. The blade says it’s 3v, the fit and finish did not exceed expectations ( sarcasm ), the primary grinds are mostly even to my ocd eyes, the edge took about 5 min to get fully sharp and the handle scales are only off in a few places. I feel like bark river gives no shits about improving their well earned fit and finish reputation ( but if you buy one of their knives expecting something only 75% finished you won’t be let down ).

I like the knife, it’s stout, mean and well balanced.. I slapped 3 coats of Obenaufs on the sheath and put a good toothy microbevel along the edge. Not sure if I’m keeping it yet.. I do want to beat the crap out of though.

I'm not a bark river fan, Mike Stewart is a thief and liar, as well as they have a documented history of selling knives in the wrong steel so that's another point I don't trust them on. BUT... if those two things don't put you off, and you like it, give it a shot. If it puts a smile on your face, then that's a win.

They have some beautiful designs and handle configurations, but I personally do not plan to buy another from them. Aside from what I learned from these forums, my Crusader is great in fit/finish, but my Cub has remarkably uneven grinds. I think you should use the knife if you like it.

I remember one Matt had that resembled that one. IIRC it was a bit wider spine to edge and had a few other differences but I can see it being close. That barkie looks to me like something Al Mar would make, and that’s not a bad thing.

I’ve had many a knife made by many a POS and the way I look at it is “it ain’t the knife’s fault”. A knife is a knife. I quit giving a shit about peoples’ input on shit I own a long, long time ago. You’ll only catch flak from tools on the interwebs. If their opinion is important to you, then it carries weight. If not, there ya go.

If you like it, do what you want with it. Carry it, use it, fling it off a building - It’s your property. You and I both have had a Livesay knife or two. They worked fine for me. I still have an SOP down my shirt most of the time.

I’ve had a few and have only kept one at this point. No terrible finishes but not perfect either. I think humility can go a long way, if something is leaving the shop that is sub par just call it a 2nd and discount the price.

My brother has a bunch including a rusty 154CM .. to which they told him is normal for that stainless steel 😂 . He’s hasn’t bought another and I doubt I’ll buy more.

Rather spend my money on a smaller maker paying attention to details.
