Fixed blades

I think this might be my favorite thread. Thanks to all the members and makers that contributed.

Agreed....the diverse quality isn't seen on so many posts. There is a little bit of Everything here. From well lived production blades all of us have, to the very rarest we love and cherish. Great, all around!

I just bought a natural micarta Koenig Helo bright wash, while waiting for the Chris Reeve Backpacker to get back in stock.

I did research for a week probably, but wanted a fixed blade for work quickly.

Any thoughts on the Koenig Helo other than it's probably overpriced? My main question is when the Micarta gets nasty, will dawn powerwash and a brush clean it up to new? I wish the Helo and Backpacker offered G-10 standard.

Yes, it will. Dawn will take anything out of micarta and leave it looking new.

That said, I never wash the patina off my micarta. They earned it, and it just makes handles look better.

If you sign up on the wait list, they are great with communicating when the next drop will be.
I think I'm gonna jump on the wait list, it's smaller than I usually go but that design and weight is sweet, would you take a pic of the spine so I can see how thin the tip is?

Just shy of 4 years now, and you were in on day 1 post number 2 in the thread! Fixed blades might not be as popular overall due to city people not being able to carry them (I think anyway) but the simplicity, aesthetics and durability are unmatched.

Thanks everyone for all the inspired purchases I've made from this thread, I definitely share very similar tastes to several of the guys here.

For overall size I am including photo’s of it next to a Volunteer Knife M3, and 3.25 (my favorite edc). The Axial Alpine is a thin/slicey blade, so I have it next to a Spyderco PM2 for comparison- I noticed the PM 2 is canted slightly so appears a little thicker.

It fits perfectly in my jeans front ‘coin pocket’ with handle accessible easily. I plan to use it as a neck knife mostly because it is so lightweight.

Just an fyi, I ordered it after contacting CPirtle who has one snd really likes his.

Perfect! Thank you so much! The blade shape and proportions are very nice to my eye. At 2oz that thing is air.
