The blades are AEB-L at 62/63 RC with the heat treat done by Peters. The handles are Desert Ironwood with Buckeye Burl spacers:

Update:the son (my daughter's BF) made the family a wooden cutting board for Christmas, too. He's in HS woodshop. The family LOVES them both ... probably is afraid to Use them.

Real puukkot have high flat zero grinds with a micro bevel. What they don't have is full exposed tang with slab handles.....Fully agree.
The lack of the Scandi grind makes calling it a "puukko" a bit confusing. How about "peape" (See luethge's post, above.)
