I hope that I'm not breaking any rules. If I am, the Mods can delete this post.

Posting a pic of my "ASEK" made me think of this. Since all you guys are "fixie" guys, I thought I'd share this here...

I have a bit of an "overseas" storied past with the Ontario 499 PSK, which I'll just save for another time. For those of you who know, the grinds on the 499 are absolute sh!t...and the edge is even worse. If you know, you know. (*I think a lot of you Ontario "499" PSK guys might be able to understand)

I'm a bit sentimental when it comes to my little 499. So, a few weeks back, I sent it to "Chris" at Father & Son Traditional Sharpening Father & Son Traditional Sharpening (*a Member here), and told him to make it right. He hit me with a lot of "knife nerd"/"sharpening guy" questions that I could barely answer. He recommended a complete "regrind", but I told him that I would just prefer that he try to get the edge evened-out at 18-19 DPS. (*no simple task, considering the sh!t grinds)

Man, after some back and forth, he got my little 499 perfectly down to 17 DPS, and made that little PSK the straight-up "performer" that it coulda' NEVER dreamed of being. He did so well that it bit my ass while I was trying to apply a little 3-IN-ONE, to clean it up for the below pics...

Man, I couldn't be happier with it.

Anyhow, if you have a problematic blade/edge, Chris might be your man. Just sayin'...
