Flakers? What say you Members...?

I do a lot of business all over the world so I can tell the difference trust me...

Agreed I'm not trying to, all I'm saying is that it is more common in US from my experience

More common in the US? So you mean places like China, Thailand, Czech Republic, and Russia never have an abundance of fraud?

I don't know what u are talking about but yes people all over the world stand behind their word more than people in here. Seems like here u need 10 lawyers just to get the people do stuff ...

I've been hit by flakers every time I have tried to buy a Busse, either on my way to the post office or as I was going home to make payment (so after all parties came to a concrete agreement and deal was finalized). So I've moved on from that brand, there are plenty of knives out there to choose from, one less company isn't going to hurt me!

Recently I had a member contact me with a knife for sale. I wasn't in position to pay, but we worked out a trade, my knife for his and a knifemaker membership for me. My knife got to him, he refused it because he was no longer comfortable shipping to Canada. Crappy excuse to me, especially as it only came from me asking why no information about sending his end, but nothing I could do about it. He refunded my shipping, but not the return shipping for the refused package so it ended up costing me over $20 for my knives to take a trip to the states and back. I won't do business with that member again, but will with others, just like there are other knife companies, there is an endless supply of knives out there, so the loss of one (so close that I could taste it, with just the features I am looking for) isn't that big of a deal.

I do, however, wish that informing the community about flakers after an agreement would not be looked down upon. I think that by naming those that agree then reneg after but before money was transferred, can help establish patterns, something I'm sure flakers are able to get away with currently. I don't feel that every instance will be reported, as most of us understand how life can be, but being able to notice if somebody is going around making agreements then breaking them just before deals are finalized by money is good for deciding who to conduct transactions with.

But in the end we will still have lowballers, flakes, rip offs, and the best knife exchange on the best knife forum in the world, populated by some of the best people in the world (above and beyond knives),so I'm happy.

I hate when somebody posts "I'll take xxx" and when you send them payment and shipping details, you never hear from them again, even after sending ANOTHER message asking if they're still interested.

How hard is it to write back "no thanks", or "I'm gonna have to pass after all; Sorry."

It's particularly enjoyable when you see them post in ANOTHER thread on a similar item, offering to buy it too...

I mean, it's not like it's money or goods out of my pocket, but it's just plain rude and inconsiderate.

:grumpy:

It states in the rules that malicious buyers are not tolerated, if it happens with enough frequency and if it is brought to our attention, we can infract that behavior. We've done it in the past, and we will continue to enforce that policy.

I am of the bend that a person is only as good as their word. If I make a firm offer the dealer agrees to, then the deal is done; and I expect that from others.
