Flashlights

Just a heads up. I've gotten a couple of emails about Surefire raising prices in the near future. I just ordered this light a week or so ago. Apparently, the price on it is about to double.
Now, that note about 1/30 is just a vendor note. Not sure when we'll see the price hikes across the board at various vendors.

Thanks for the heads up...

not sure why i'd want to buy them now or later. i wonder if this is a death cry? double prices? whoa.

Double prices! Well looks like I will never be getting one of those now.

Whoever came up with that idea can eat my butthole. Let me get em a spoon. (I quit a job with that same statement once. It was glorious.)

Seems pretty radical, doesn't it? I saw a CPF thread where someone mentioned a 12% price hike. Maybe just certain models are going up more?
Anyway, I grabbed a G2 in olive drab and that G2XPro with the dual output. I'm tempted to get another G2 or 6P for future drop-in experiments.

ETA: If Surefire DOES go belly up, maybe I'll finally be able to get one of those 870 forearm-light-thingies on closeout. :p

Surefire prices vary widely, depending on where you buy. I bought a Surefire Scout M600 last year for about $175. Retailers were charging over $400 for it!

Just got this note from goinggear:

Due to various reasons, Surefire has decided to increase their prices, effective January 31, 2011. What does that mean for you now? Well, the end of the month is still four days away, so if there is something you want from Surefire, buy it now to enjoy the current pricing before the increases take effect. The increases will affect most items and are significant in many cases.

Damn thats dirty....
It reminds me of a story.
When I was at work I decided to make a giant butt plug and set it on my bosses desk so everyone could see it before he came into work, anyways his desk was by the front door so who ever entered would see this giant aluminum butt plug just chillin there.

My boss finally came into work and seen the plug, he came back into the shop and pulled his pants down and mooned me and told me to go F%$& myself.

He later told me it was damn funny and he had no idea how to react to this incdent.

I also pulled into work one day and seen these pink panties sitting on the ground and they were like a size XXL with a crap streak from front to back, oh they were beyond nasty.
I decided to pick them up with a stick and put them on my bosses stearing wheel in his truck.
I waited to see him come out to lunch and get in his truck, as soon as he did he busted out of his truck yelling you SOB and gagging at the same time.

He was the coolest boss I ever had......

Sorry for the long post.....

Oh and surefire will lose alot of buisnes with that price change, I love there lights but damn.

Hmm, do you happen to shop at a southern California based police gear shop?

I also got the email from Goinggear. Oh well, I haven't owned a surefire yet, and I guess I never will.

I like the lights. I have, I guess, four 6P's. All of them carry Malkoff drop-ins.
One has an Malkoff M60 and rides on a S&W M&P15.
Another has a Malkoff M61 and stays on a daypack.
Two of them have the Malkoff M60LF's that I grabbed when Gene Malkoff cleared 'em out.
Last I have a 6Z that has permanent place by a Ruger KP95. It has a Malkoff M60F in it.

Does 4Sevens make a good AAx1 light? Or possibly a AAx2 light?
I have the countycomm Maratac AAx1 and have looked at the Fenix LD15.
Just trying to minimize battery requirements for one kit.
Headlamp and GPS both use AA batteries, so I would like a decent handheld that uses AA.
It doesn't have to be a 1000 lumen spotlight, but something around 80 to 100 lumens would be nice.

It is real hard to make me feel good about my light addiction but, you guys are ALMOST making the long suffering Susan feel good about it.....

THANKS.....

Ethan, Susan needs to read around at candlepowerforums.
Next to some of those guys, I bet your light addiction looks plain anemic. Mine does anyway.
Caveat: you need a degree in electronics to understand some of those threads. :p

I was going to get one here before long. Not now. At the end of it all, it is just a flashlight. Not worth that kind of money. That is knife money.

I'm under the impression it's only the new 6PX and G2X series lights, not all Surefire lights that are getting a price hike. Not sure if that's what you were implying, but thought I'd mention it anyways :). I got one of the G2XB's a couple weeks ago, I love it. The price hike is effective at the end of the month directly from Surefire, so they'll be at the current price for as long as dealers have em in stock from orders before the hike.

For a 1 or 2xAA light, check out the Olight T-15 or T25. I've got the T25 Tactical and it's awesome. 190lumens on high. Low, medium, high, strobe, and SOS settings. I got the G2XB because I didn't need all those other modes though. A low and a high is plenty for what I need.

I saw something at CPF about a 12% hike across the board. Don't know if it's true, but a couple of posters mentioned it. Could be BS.
I think the 6PX and G2X lights basically had an "introductory" price and are about to go up to their "normal" price.

I'll check out the Olight. 190 lumens? Those AA's must be screaming. :D

I wish I could find a slightly more powerful light with a reversible clip. On the Maratac AA and AAA (countycomm), you can flip the clip from one side to the other. And in the reverse set-up, it turns into a handy cap light.

for me a good flashlight is just as important as a good knife. after all, you can't cut (or shoot...worse, shoot the wrong person in a home invasion!) what you can't see. late last fall while out mountain biking, we got caught in the middle of the woods while the sun was setting down (we thought we had another two hours or so but time went by quickly). good thing i was edc'ng my fenix pd20 (brighter and still better battery life than my surefire 6p) or else we would've had to spend the night there. had i used my surefire 6p that would've ate through the batteries too fast anyway.

i was prepared with my pd20. my sheeple friends only had those puny, 30 lumens headlamps in their pack (i'm on the left).
