Flashlights

THANKS!

Looks like it will be a backup to the 200. Brighter lights in the bag(s).

I believe its "attraction" is that younger folks brought up on LED's saw this and said "Wow neat color" We know that color as incandescents. The hcri has the color of incandescents but the longevity, efficiency and bomb-proofness of LED's.
Not a bad thrower like the Golden Dragon and true color rendition at night. It is a pleasing light - not so harsh.
Sorta like Sopia Loren -vs- Kim Kardashian if you know what I mean. :)

Thanks for the comparison pics. I really like the golden dragon emitter. I'm definitely glad I got the 200 exec, but I appreciate the "real" colors of the Hi CRI.

Incandescent is so "old school"...even my old Mag Lights have LED upgrades. :).

I'm aware of more light stuff than I disclose here but there's forums all about it so anyone looking to learn can do all that they like. High CRI is not ever going to be my primary light of choice, but already owning tactical 200's it was a logical "next HDS" for me.

As for the ladies you mentioned...I've heard of both and am not a fan of either. :D

Some of the family (who made appearances tonight) without emptying bags or dismounting from weapons :)

I know what you mean. Got cold here the other day, grabbed a coat...found a light, been there since last cold period. Darn things are everywhere.

Great comparison shots! I really like the Hi-cri and the golden dragon emitter. I'll try to do my part and post some photos when my latest purchase arrives (scheduled for Wednesday). I've been sort of skeptical on the color warmth issue, but it seems like there is actually a decent visual difference in terms of how well you can see in detail and less visual discomfort from over lit nearer objects.

I did a couple of the LED upgrades to my old Maglites twin AA units and they still suck, they don't work well turning on and off reliably and for the cost of the upgrade, I could just buy a proper LED light. Lesson learned.

I think of those AA lights as almost disposable. Waste of time and money to LED "uprgade" them, I was speaking to the "D-cell" MagLights, but simply adding an LED still doesn't boost these lights to the level of modern performance from lights a quarter +/- their size.

Doesn't happen as often but I do enjoy the reaction you get when you are in the presence of a "non-gadget" person and the need for light or cutting or whatever comes up.
We all have our "hey anybody got a knife" stories and the flashlight events are similarly comedic.
Couple years back I was at a Neighbors for a party (of sorts) we had just had some bad rains and one of the roads washed out so a bunch of us "brave men" went out to survey the damage (sorta like when somebody shows up at a party with a Camaro and all the guys stand around with the hood up making grunting noises)
We get out to the site of the devastaion (abyss where a bridge once stood) out come the 3 D-cell Maglites and in to the hole the light goes.
The Black Hole I should say, Dark and rainy and nothin - couldn't see anything. So..... I pulled out the Chapstick size EDC light of choice that evening (can't really remember which) and I clicked it on.
Wow! (lots of grunts) What the Hell is that!!
Wish I had a few on me, coulda sold some flashlights that night :)

I found a place that has the 120, 120 hicri, and 200 clicky if anyone is interested.

Bought the HCRI 120, Thanks Dave, and Thanks Rubi!!!! That pic was the deal breaker, now I know why he recommends it for medical, the spectrum of color return with that light is amazing! Great for cars, ill see if its oil, trans fluid, etc... and with EMS i'll be able to see what that puddle I stepped in was!

Just got this today. HDS 200 exec. also came, but required a signature while I was at work. Unfortunately can not pick up until Wednesday.
Mcgizmo's Haiku Hi CRI

Luck, let me know your opinions/thoughts on that light, please.

And I'm sorry to all for the want for HDS stuff, I feel this thread may be to blame for some of the recent purchases.

Yep I blame you and Rubi for all the HDS purchases. Naah, been looking at these for almost a year now. Couldn't decide between HDS and Elzeeta. Still will get Elzeeta eventually. Will let you know more about the Mcgizmo later this week. So far it's a lot lighter and smaller feeling than I thought it would be.

It's true. My lens-light hasn't even arrived yet and I'm tempted to send it back in favor of the hi-cree HDS. That color difference is incredible.

HiCRI showed up today, but no time to play with it. Nowhere near me atm, but took it into dark areas during daylight. And, while not my choice for a primary light, it will come in handy from time to time.

Guys; I've been blamed as inspiration for XM purchaes and all the various popular accessories and pens, it was only a matter of time before flashlight influence followed. My bad.

N2K - I could _try_ to blame you, but I know one person (my wife) who won't buy it :D

Yup N2K it's all your fault, now my knife fund is decimated......... but at least I'll know what kind of puddle I step in when I'm on call now..... hope its man made, not made of man..
