Flashlights

Here is my EDC light, Surefire E1D. Great little light. I am planning on getting an HDS, it's a great rig.

Yeah they have a bit of heft to them for sure.

I definitely wanted to keep very thick sidewalls for durability and heat. After all, my copper light runs much more amperage than the hds.

For it to be noticeably warmer, but still noticeably brighter says it's a good amount stronger.
Warmer lights always appear more dim than a cooler light because they are less harsh to the eyes.

We perceive something that hurts your eyes to be brighter, but a light that is more comfortable, can actually be brighter, and not strain your eyes. Win win.

I find the HDS lights well built yet unnecessarily over weight. Not that I'd ever want my light to be on the light-weight diet of some mass produced foreign lights...but anything heavier than a HDS is not for this guy.

6.1-6.5oz depending on the style.

In the pocket using the clip feels very comfortable to me, but I can totally understand wanting a lightweight edc.

When it comes down to a few ounces, I'm not really bothered by a variance one way or the other.

I think like AZ2AK, I like a little heft.

It's personal preference of course :)... In the same way, I prefer my Cu Investigator and Extreme pens to their aluminum (or ever Ti) counterparts..

Either light (HDS and Cu - what are you calling these Tmack?) disappears in the inside front pants pock of my TAD pants, I don't even notice they are there. The HDS rides well in the inside chest pocket of my TAD jackets, haven't tried the Cu yet although it's extra weight might be noticeable..

So my little copper monster arrived today.......reminds me of a chess piece......so I'm callin' it "The Rook" for lack of a better name.......

It's pretty awesome.......but I have to wait until it gets dark to really have some fun with it........I took a few pics next to a 3" XM and then a few other lights for size comparisions......

"Can you smell what the Rook has cookin'.....???"

So.....first impressions are that the design is wicked and the build is absolutely phenomenal......it is one of my heavier lights but actually it's a very comfortable weight in the hand......it is SOLID.....it could probably be used as a weapon......or be run over by a car and laugh it off.......
The UI is laughably easy and the settings are awesome......the clicky is recessed so this light is easy to either tailstand or headstand with no issues.......

NOW......just waiting until it gets dark.......to test out 1000 Lumens.......yeeeeeeeehaaaa !!!!!

My machinist asked how I wanted the crenulation, and I said, like a castle.

So I was thinking of a good name, and....... It's quite fitting.

Oh and careful about what you headstand them on. Little suckers are powerful!

Because of this thread I got a Lens Light mini for Christmas and just ordered an HDS rotary with custom case from Dan at Thor's Hammer. Hinderer XM-18 will be next!

Nice lights everyone.

To my friends in Red...without question, you have my consent to relocate this thread outside this sub-forum at any time deemed appropriate.

Well, I'll say this - I like the thread and I think many members do as well.
To that end and in an effort to save it and keep it here and open I will attempt to refocus its light.
Let's get back to and stay with the theme of "Hey, check this out" as well as some of the informative general postings.
We will refrain from personal and or connected interests.
Hopefully "nuff" said
Let's get back on track shall we.

Since beginning this thread most every major player in the flashlight game has stepped up their offerings a bit...at least on the spec sheets.

But still keeping an eye out for a nice balance of user-friendliness matched equally with performance and quality.

A variety of lights and materials: brass, aluminum and titanium.
There are three Vinhs, two Malkoffs and assorted others.
Though I'm partial to the XM-24, I do have this XM-18 3.5" slicer, just because of the ti scale. ;)

Is that an ArmyTek I see in there? I carry an ArmyTek viking pro warm every night at work. Great light that is extremely customizable. It is a pretty big light, but for my use at work it is perfect. I can set it to put out a TON of light or just a little with the turn of the head.

Good eye! I carry my Armytek some, but find I'm carrying the Fenix(below Armytek) more than anything.

At work all I carry is my Armytek. Not at work though it is a mix of HDS rotary, HDS executive, eagletac, and Sunwayman.
