Flea Mkt Knife Dealers Are Trying to RUIN Case's Reputation!!

Just ignore them. You'll here all kind of stuff at flea markets. As long as the buyer knows what he's doing you can find some really great deals at times.
I'm thinking you may have been at Trade Day in Collinsville. I've gotten some great deals there on hard to find Case knives.
Haven't been in a few years though.

Thanks for the link Karda. I knew a little about Jim, but didn't know just how far it went.
I only read the first page but will go back and read it all.

Be sure to read it all. Its quite fascinating to see just how far some of these good ol' con-boys will go to make a dollar.
The best part is that it's mostly firsthand knowledge by some notables.

I have heard that Rough Riders are good knives especially for country of origin. Steel Warrior isn't too terrible either. When they're sold as something they're not, when someone is sanding off made in china or made in Pakistan.

Colt has some good looking chinese stuff as well.

BTW, Case did have some knives made in Germany and Boker did make a run of Franklin Mint knives. Just two comments from previous post that I though needed a little response ;)

Just my opinion on the topic. I sincerely doubt there is a concerted effort on behalf of Flea market vendors to try and sink Case knives. It's bit far fetched and sounds like something you'd read in the National Enquirer. People are trying to make a buck, that is all. Nothing new really, people always try to make money at flea markets. Now, as with many other things in life when we hear something, always consider the source. The guys that usually sell knives at flea markets are not knifemakers or knife experts by any stretch of the imagination. They are trying to make some money, no more no less. They want you to buy their stuff, and tell you it's all made in China with the hopes you'll believe it and trade your hard earned money for some off shore produced junk. People that sell things have often used misdirection or bend the truth at times. Ever buy a car at a dealership? These guys are blowing smoke out of their Southernmost alimentary canals, nothing more. No conspiracies, no New World Order plots. To believe otherwise is just foolish, especially when anyone with a phone and an internet connection is able to verify the validity of such a claim by calling the manufacturer and asking directly. ;)

yes but when I went to Daytona Florida I looked at all of the other knife dealers. 2 of them had some knifes worth something but all of the others had nothing but junk. I went in there to sell and I brought name brands with me. I started with 12 different case knifes and when I sold them I just kept buying more of them. I started selling Muela knifes and boy did they sell like hot cakes. I brought in USA made switchblades and people started just passing the other dealers just to see what a have new this time. boy the other knife dealers hated me. Yes I also had the cheap china knifes too. Also there cheap switchblades. Did you know I was at the Flemarket for fun?? All of the money was a bonus because I was working full time as a commercial electrician too. Due to health reason I can’t do both of them. I just look on the net and remember all of the friends that I made and all of the good time that we had together.

Let me add my thanks too.
Had not seen that thread before.

Took an hour+ of reading, but well worth it if one has any interest in the business, collecting, or the individuals.

yes but I m greedy because I kept making them really good deals on case knifes and any other they wanted so they kept coming back to me. do you see being a honest knife dealer at the flemarket paid off in the long run. boy do I miss the good old days.
