Folders or Fixed.

Im a fixed blade guy all day long, but I keep a folder for work purposes. I have to cut rope at least 1-2 times a day, so serrations are the usual for me. I mainly use my rotten old benchmade, and once in a while will switch to my spyderco.

That Spyderco looks pretty "toothy".
How does it work as an everyday knife?
(Or doesn't it?)

It’s pretty toothy. It’s decent at cutting 3/8 poly rope. It’s no where near as my benchmade. I only use the spyderco if I misplace my benchmade (always somewhere in the house). I’ve owned the benchmade for 20+ years. I’m surprised I have t lost it permanently.

What if you're going comando for the day?

I lIke to dress in army kakies just as much any kid…..I mean….adult….and an army web belt. :) The other definition of going commando still involves wearing shorts, just no skivies, and you have to be careful!! I really like the Duluth commercials to. Nuff said.

I wonder how the people in Naked and Afraid ”strap” them on when no clothes? Wait……vine made twine for a neck knife. Now I know what strap them on means as opposed to wearing a knife.

For me a folder always. I have a fixed blade for when I go hiking but my folders tend to be on the bigger size anyway... ZT 0305/562 lately. I've never really needed anything else except an SAK for smaller tasks and lending out if someone needs to borrow a knife. An SAK is less shocking to non-knife carrying folk.

If you're outdoors: large fixed blade gets to suffer the indignity of being dropped in the mud; as you take a crap behind a tree...
