Folding knives you trust...

Emersons, ZT, Bladetech Rijback, Spyderco (obviously not a UKPK but you get the idea I'm sure), most of the MOD knives (out of production of course), Extrema Ratio, Strider, is what I can come up with on the spot.

my edc is a syderco police... thin, big enough for the end of days, defense, and it has clean more than a few critters.... i think of it as an upgraded buck110...

I trust the Ka-Bar Mule. It has a very strong lock & is a good substitute for a fixed blade, for not causing any alarm whilst outdoors in the UK. (Our knife laws are bad.)
I even batton with it without it breaking.

?!?!? Holy Crap! You shoot at your knife?
Well, wasn't aiming at the knife and I don't make a habit of it, but yeah. A couple of times I rushed off to shoot in a hurry and forgot to bring something to hang targets from. I wasn't kidding when I said I abused the hell out of it.

Desmobob I really like the blade shape on that Grohman. What's it made of?

Again, nice photo.

Stay sharp,
desmobob

Bob,

It is very comparable to 420A - not the best, but basically worry-free and easy to sharpen. Does not hold an edge like my 154CM, but close.

By the way, love your area of the country. I was up on the Salmon River in late June outside Pulaski fly-fishing. Here's some extreme mountain bikers I caught crossing the river :)

I'm just a bit north, but W-A-Y east of there, on the VT border. In fly fishing terms, I'm about 40 minutes from the Battenkill and an hour from the West Branch of the Ausable. :)

That Grohman is the R380S, right? I'm going to have to look for one of those....

my waved spyderco delica has been my EDC for a few years now, and before that I carried a Kershaw Whirlwind AO , both are great and I would rely on either anyday. Never had a problem with a SAK either.

Desmobob,

You certainly are in fly fishing heaven . I've been on the Black River and the Battenkill in Vermont, and the Chateaugay, Deer, and Grass rivers closer to you. The Ausable is on my to do list. We should arrange a group get together near there.

The Grohmann is surprisingly heavy and solid feeling. The blade shape is my favorite feature - very versatile. Folders in this large size/weight fall into a narrow niche, but it is just so purdy :)

My Leatherman Folding knife has the 154CM steel and a very good lock.

They look very interesting, especially for EDC. What model do you have and how has it performed? Does it have drivers and how do they perform?

I really like my opinels, I don't know what people use them for to consider them "fragile" (aside from the tips, that is understandable). My opinel is the only knife that is always on me. The lock is more dependable to me than others I have seen, but that is a preference. I have batoned opinels, with no ill effects, so they are tough enough for me. I also like various older slippies and trust them highly to do folder-tasks.
