Foo Foo Bitter Hoppy Micro Stuff and Beckers

Well? Only BBC I've had is the....Katahdin (I think that was the name). How was it?

this is my second six-pack. Apparently it was only brewed once, but my local liquor store still has some. It's good. Most of the coconut-almond is in the nose. It's weird and I like it. It claims porter status, but I'd call it a decent low-carbonation stout. All the Baxters I've tried are 6% or so. The other two available locally weren't my style, but not bad.

There's a lot of coconut going on in that photo!

right? I almost moved the coconut oil jar for the picture and then decided it was kind of funny.

Score of the century! Ballantine IPA, brewed since 1878, 70 IBU's, 7.2% ABV........at my local malt beverage outlet: 11.99/case!!!! Slightly less than 50¢ per bottle....and it is really tasty. Astonishing. Sharpening plane/spokeshave blades and tuning up same.

Going back tomorrow to buy a couple more cases....you know, for, ah....future use.

wow, interesting score.
My dad used to drink Balantine Ale when I was a kid.
Wonder if I'd like it today.

I had never heard of this beer before so I looked it up...no wonder Daizee's dad used to drink this when he (?) was a kid...it's made by Pabst Brewing Co!! Apparently, they stopped making it, and then in 2014, started brewing it again. It has an 87 on BA. With 70 IBU's, I'll be looking for this one. Thanks GSoM!

You're welcome. Looked it up myself whilst at the beer store.....I was thinking "$12 a case?!? How good could that be?!" Never judge beer by price....less than $0.50/bottle and it is an astounding value. Gonna pick up some more for backstock. Of course, I certainly find value in more expensive beer as well....but it's "refreshing" to find something this good for such short money.

Couldn't find the Ballantine, so I came home with this instead:

8.4% - 85 IBUs - Samuel Adams. Need I say more?!

No more need be said. One of Sam's finest brews in a while, IMO. I liked the Rebel, but the Rebel Rouser? Brilliant piece of work. Waiting for 12's to go on sale......

Went to my beer store to pick up some more Ballantine.....but there is none left (heavy sigh) at the special deal. So I picked up some Torpedo in cans and some Smuttynose Finestkind IPA in cans. Not that I don't already have beer, but it's nice to have choices. I'll get a pic in a bit.

Cans. What an evolution, huh? I remember when the only canned beer that I ever drank was the Beast or Busch and I now look back on those days and think WTF?! (Does anybody besides piss poor college kids that know no better still drink that beer?) Now, with the refining of the canning process and the cans themselves, good, no, great beer is often found in cans - brown bottles be damned.

your piss tests are evaluated by taste?!?

not by me, but maybe Bear is doing the test....
Plus, I imagine that tastes like urine. I'm gonna leave it in the imagination, tho......the dark, dark closet of imagination that I don't ever go into but occasionally haunts my dreams.
