Food & Traditional Knives

Yet another thread that I've been neglecting, even though I eat food several times each day; looks like the last time I posted here was 2.5 months ago. o_O I have quite a backlog of knife-and-food photos that I should try to post here eventually.

I'll start with this. My wife often goes to quilting/embroidery/sewing workshops/classes at a sewing machine emporium on the other side of town. Sometimes she comes back with some kind of take-out food order for me. A couple of times recently, she's stopped at a deli and brought me a roast beef and cheddar sandwich that I think is very good. I usually eat half of it when she brings it home and the other half for lunch or supper the next day. I think the deli menu says the sandwich contains Black Angus roast beef, sharp cheddar cheese, red onions, and horseradish sauce. You can see if you can identify the ingredients in the 2nd photo below.

When I was a lad, I think some TV ads claimed that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I don't know if that's actually true, but it's certainly my favorite meal of the day. My first course is usually cereal and fruit. Most days I cut up half a clementine, about a third of an apple (usually Gala variety, or Fuji), and about a dozen grapes (red seedless, green seedless, or both). Here's a recent example of fruit processed using the Victorinox folding paring knife with serrated blade our dog gave us for Christmas last month.

After the fruit is ready, I put some cereal, seeds, nuts, etc. in the bottom of my bowl. I usually start with a thin layer of Grape Nuts, then put in a layer of a variety of cereals I've premixed and keep in a Tupperware that's the shape and size of a large cereal box. The premix contains generic store brand versions of Cheerios, bite-sized shredded wheat, multigrain squares, and bran chex or wheat chex. I put a tablespoon of raw flax seed, a small handful of unsalted dry-roasted peanuts, 3 Peanut Butter M&Ms, and 6 Dark Chocolate M&Ms on top of the cereal layer, and then add the fruit.
Here are the lower layer of cereal in the bowl next to the fruit, followed by a pic of fruit on top of the cereal.

Finally, I add a layer of Wheat Bran Flakes on top of the fruit, add a very thin layer of Honey Nut Cheerios, and then pour orange juice over it all, and enjoy the heck out of it.

(Second course, after I eat my cereal and then feed the dog, is a couple of slices of toast with peanut butter and either honey or jelly, and a heaping teaspoon of Folgers Crystals stirred into a mug of hot milk.)

Had a lil BBQ the other evening. Brother Bill had the honors here at our place. It was cold but Josh had the fire pit going and Steve had a ceegar going.

Brother Bill used his Ranchero to open his marinating bags. He'd been marinating lamb lollipops. Chica is pretty curious.

Chica was asking Steve if she was gonna get some:

Brother Bill is big on the lobster tails too but they were steamed not grilled. All ready.
