Food & Traditional Knives

Most nights, I have something like this for supper. I call it "vegetable casserole", but my wife insists that it can't possibly be called a casserole if I make it in a microwave oven. I usually make a batch that fills the bowl, and eat half of it, as shown. The next day, I'll often add more vegetables and split it again, then do that one more time so I often get 4 meals from the "original batch plus additions". I always have lots of pocketknives in the kitchen that I can enjoy while chopping vegetables.

Tonight, I have the leftovers from a vegetable casserole, but I'm going to call it "Irish stew" this time, to honor St. Patrick. We'll see what objections my wife raises to THAT name! 🤓

I'll include a close-up of the bowl here so you can play a game of "Find the Vegetable". I think you should be able to spot: baked beans, broccoli, carrots, corn, green beans, peas, potatoes, tomato (from salsa), and zucchini. There's also ground turkey in there, and I'm surprised to see NO green pepper or onion, but I can add those, plus asparagus and celery, to the next day's iteration.

Horsewright Horsewright If I had that lot on offer all the time I'd never leave the house :D Digging that bread-knife

Thanks, Will
Nichole my wife was just saying this morning that she wanted to make another loaf of bread but thought she'd better not. Gotta watch the waistline. Course I can always make me a new belt if needed! Thanks on the knife. That's just a kit blade that I put a handle on well because.....I don't do serrations. The others hanging around and in the two knife blocks are mine.

One might ask oneself how a person can fast 13 or more hours a day for a month and still gain weight.

One might answer oneself by examining this image:

Is the fasting a Ramadan thing, Tom?

I was out walking in 70˚F weather yesterday afternoon and saw one of those inflatable lawn ornaments one sees so frequently. But the one I saw yesterday was my first ever Ramadan inflatable lawn ornament!

Here's some leftover breakfast pizza that my son-in-law left in our fridge when they visited around Thanksgiving. It was pretty good. He LOVES the breakfast pizza from the bakery just kitty-corner from our back yard.

It is . It’s on a lunar calendar, so it falls a few days earlier in the solar cycle every year. When it falls during the summer months, pre-dawn to sunset makes for a long fast. Even then, I have to watch my food intake because of all the goodies my wife makes. Just one of these will keep you going all day, but I had a papaya smoothie too this morning - you know, just in case 🤣:

I’m not sure I have heard of a purpose-made “breakfast pizza”, but I’m all for eating leftover pizza for breakfast…
