Burger King.

It said it was ANGUS but take away the "G" and it tasted more like what I imagine that would taste like. It certianly was not ground beef. Rather, it was some type of preshaped potted meat product. I would be willing to bet that when all of the honest restaurants have bought up all the edible parts of the common angus bull, whatever is left over goes into Burger King's t.u.r.d burgers. Be warned.

When I worked at the Radio City Station post office, we had a greasy spoon next door that was supposedly the inspiration for John Belushi's classic "chizburger" routine.

I have never been in such a rat hole in my life. I only went in for coffee, but I couldn't drink it.

Jon,

I have to agree with you. I had one last week and it was the worst burger I had ever sunk my teeth into. The pattie was falling apart in hunks and it was like I bit into a Super Pinky ball. Absolutely horrible. :barf: Looks like I may have to stick with Wendy's when it comes time for a burger craving.

Esav, the inspiration for Belushi's skit was the infamous Billy Goat tavern in Chicago. It really is like that! Decent greazy cheezborgers too.

For a big whoppin angus burger these days, I choose Hardees. They have just done what it takes to improve the quality, and now they have decent food again.

They have became my new favorite!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wendy's is the best fast food restaraunt out there (sorry for the oxymoron) of the three biggies. They're got pretty good burgers, very good chicken sandwiches, and some nice variety. They're also the cheapest I believe.

I still don't like Subway. The one near me has about 6 sandwiches, and you have to point to every single thng you want (the employees speak some dialect that eludes me). Then you get a sandwich, which is pretty good, but overpriced. I'd like to try Arby's, Hardee's, or Sonic, but there aren't any around me. Burger King fries are ALL grease, they're just .001 millimeter in diameter potato cores that are deep fried to a thicker mass of artery-clogging filth. McDonalds food is always stale, cold, or the wrong item.

If I have to eat at a semi-fast food place, it comes down to either Wendy's or a local sub/pizza place. Better yet; make your own burgers (on the grill, if you oven-cook a burger, there is probably no hope for you, same goes for skillets/stovetops, and what's more: microwave burgers :barf: ).

Y'all don't have Burgerville, do you?

No. Sorry. You don't.

So, I won't tell you about the real beef patties, juicy and bursting will real beef flavor (all of the major chains artificially flavor their beef). Nor will I tell you about the Walla Walla sweet onion rings. No. I won't make you suffer. And I certainly won't bring up the fresh blackberry shakes made the old fashioned way with scoops of real ice cream and real milk and whole fresh blackberries that you actually see them scoop into your shake... as opposed to a "delicious dairy desert" that extrudes out of a machine.

No. I know that it just wouldn't be fair for us here in Oregon to lord Burgerville over you. So, I won't do that. No. Not me. That's not the sort of thing I'd do.

:D

Thanks for not informing us, Gollnick! Now I don't have droll running down my mouth and I don't have a hunger deep in the pit of my stomach that can only be solved by wolfing down a big ol' burger, onion rings, and a big shake. That was downright decent of ya to not torture us all like that!! :)

Yeah, burger king is about the worst. And the service around here is just absolute crap from them. Even McDonald's has better service, and slightly better food. Wendy's is tops, to me, for fast burger food and service.

Subway is ok, from time to time, but it's expensive for what ya get, and it just tastes like...the fast food of grinders...ah well.

Higher than them all, though, is Taco Bell. For me, it provides the protein and fiber I'm looking for, has very low fat (comparitavely) and tastes pretty good, IMO.

Having nothing to do with the quality (or lack thereof) of the Burger King menu ...

I was at a Concert in the Park one evening, in Central Park in NYC, and the orchestra had just begun a Beethoven symphony when a single-engine plane with a very loud engine began flying back and forth overhead, trailing a Burger King banner.

#)(^ Burger King!

That's pretty damn weak. Need to fire off an 1812 overture with live cannon, take that puppy down...(i know, not Beethoven).

MMMMmmm....BackYard Burger. Good stuff. Real meat, that they actually grill after you order it! Whoa now, don't get crazy on me there.

I think Wendys is generaly worse than BK. They always seems sqaushed and wet...

I have one huge problem with Wendy's burgers. The cheese is NEVER melted. It comes hovering on top of the patty like a piece of cold skin. I don't really get upset by much and I guess it is just one of those things but I really can't handle unmelted cheese. Just thinking about it makes me shudder.

My current favorite FFBG (fast food burger joint) is Carl's Jr. Their burgers actually taste nearly like a hamburger. Their fries are generally good and the sodas are bigger than those of any other chain I have yet to find.

Arby's tastes ok, but they are just not filling, nor are they cost-effective. Sonic's higher-end burgers are ok, but not worth the cost of admission. The Bell is a favorite, but I can't stomach them too often  Burger King is right out.

Well, most places I just don't like, but the one place I can't stand is Carl's Jr. Their patties are a few mm thin, and they just don't taste like a burger, you know?

In-n-out has gotta be the best burger though.

And island's is over rated. The patties are way too big and crumbly.

I prefer Carls Jr. to all else. Whataburger is pretty good too, but is a bit pricy (although they actually cook it when you order it, not pre-done).

I love Subway. Same sandwich every time. Spicy Italian, wheat bread, pepperjack cheese, mustard, pickles, onions, and a shitload of jalapenos. Never get heartburn either. No, I haven't lost weight like Jered, but I've been 150 pounds for 5 years, so I guess that counts.

Best burger I ever had was at this little joint somewhere in the mountains on I70. Pepper jack cheese, jalapenos, some sort of hotsauce, and onions. I drool just thinking about it. Haven't yet duplicated it yet though.

I really dig a good buffalo burger too.

You folks need to move to Virginia. Our fountain has been making burgers for 70 years. I challenge anyone to have fresher beef. The beef for our burgers (and our home-made hotdog chili and deep fried steak and cheese subs) is from a small local business. They raise the grain fed beef themselves. It is fresh butchered, ground or sliced, and then makes the 1.2 mile trip to the fountain. Fresh....yeah! BTW, we use real ice cream in our shakes and sundaes. Yum, Yum! After eating here for nigh on 45 years, can y'all guess why I am 250 lbs?

If you floks are ever in Birmingham, Alabama, get to Hamburger Heaven.
The name says it all. Although I haven't eaten a burger or fries in nearly ten years, when I did they were the best, and from all reports still are.

BASTID! :)

I LOVE blackberries! :D

I apologize before-hand of being a bit off-topic, but this seems as good a place as any to raise a question I've been wanting to ask for awhile.

Has anyone tried a home-made burger made with ground buffalo meat? Was it good?
