For those curious about the difference in the Tri-ad lock vs traditional lockbacks

Solosknifereviews did an awesome tire cut test comparison between an xm18 and a military that you might enjoy watching on youtube.

I saw it thanks. But in the tire cut the Military kicked XM-18 butt from my perspective anyway. It's worth watching again though. :)

Wrong in so many ways.
And this is from someone who owns enough Cold Steel folders, an Endura (had others) and higher end knives such as the Umnumzaan to be able to discern quality when it is present.:)

It is possible to appreciate an item without denigrating another. Quality stands on its own.

No it's perfectly right in one way: reality. :D

I wasn't comparing other Cold Steel folders, I was comparing the Hold Out with the Endura and I'm telling you there isn't a single clear headed person in the world who would have a look at them side by side and go: "I'll have the flimsy plastic one without the fit and finish." Gayle Bradley vs. Hold Out or Millie vs. Hold Out; then yes, maybe. With the Endura there is simply no way though. :p

Or I shouldn't say no one would do it. Some people would buy snake oil if you fed them good enough of a story. :D

That's exactly what I said.
The Hold Out is one of the knives I would only take for free, whereas I paid for the Endura.
It does have the F&F too. Not as much as, say, my Umnumzaan, but neither does the Hold Out.;)

I wouldn't say Cold Steel makes crap though.
I recently got an old style extra large Voyager Tanto 5" blade (I know, tantos...hey, the clip points were out of stock:D).
VG-1 steel (nice!), linerless Zytel scales, pinned construction...it reminded me alot of the old pinned Enduras for action and build quality.:)

Those old Voyagers are really hard to beat for user blades and VG-1 is really an excellent steel.

I'm planning on getting another one.:)
I want one to use the hell out of and one to look pretty, and at the price, I'll be able to.
Tempted by that full serrated 5" clip point one, but those serrations look like a royal pain in the butt to sharpen.

If you did I have some wa... ehm... traditional old norse liquid steel essence you can use to dip your Endura in for superior strength and quality. I'll sell it to you for $50, shipping included. :D

No, but seriously. I have bunch of Endura's laying around and I can't tell you enough how much you're :jerkit:

I still have 3, well more like 2 1/2 really. ;)

Gunsite 1 and 2 and a Plain Edge 4" Voyager that I wrecked the lock on in one of my videos.

First of all, that emoticon is not allowed here.
Secondly, you are not exactly coming across as a pleasant person or brilliant conversationalist.
You might want to try learning some manners. They'll help you in life, and not just on the internet.

Over strikes will kill a lock back in a real hurry. :D
Ah, gotcha.:)
A few days ago I destroyed an old "Pakistan Special" lock-back, with spine whacks and overstrikes. I was interested to see where the breakage would occur.
It was surprisingly resilient, and took ALOT more abuse to wreck than I would have thought.

It's the over strikes that really kill it, I could spine whack that thing all day long with no problem.

Give me a lock back and about 30 seconds and I will break the lock. ;)

Do you have my Endura 4 G-10, SS lined model laying around? Now, that's one fine Endura, solid as a rock and capable of cutting rings around a lot of higher end folders. Grow up with the jerkits dude they're not allowed in General Discussion btw.

Didn't know about the emoticon. Don't see why they would have it as an option if it's not allowed though?

Manners goes both ways. When some guy tries to pull some perceived forum weight on you by listing his knifes and telling you your free speech opinion is wrong he's used up all manners and placed himself with the wiseass crowd. If you spent less time on the internet and more time in life you would know this. I own plenty enough knives to share my opinion this inspite the fact I haven't been as active on this board as you - for you to think otherwise is not my problem and neither is you being offended about me not bowing to your silly fanboi statement.

Admittedly I don't and you're probably right. But they're also not in the same price range.

swegeek has not made any friends yet

Why do I find this easy to understand?

Because you're rude and have issues reading (23 posts)? :)

You come across as a very angry, petty person and this conversation is over...

Actually I'm in a very good mood. I got another awesome new knife recently, I just got a job today, graduated university on Saturday, have a loving wife, friends in real life, and friends on here.
And angry? Why? I'd have to give a crap about your opinion to be angered by it.:)

I was thinking the same thing. Why would this douchebag bully point out I don't have forum friends and give me advice on how to act in life? What a strange, strange angry man. :)
