They've started announcing their 2015 lineup. For all the people that gripe about AUS-8, they're stepping up materials, most of the new folders are in BD-1 or CTS-XHP(several of their older designs, such as the Rajah 2, Spartan, and Recon 1 are also being made in these steels now), a new fixed blade in 3V, a gentleman's slipjoint folder with carbon fiber... They've got a scandi grind folder coming out, a folding karambit(with thumbplate wave and a new version of the triad lock)...

Nice to see them branching out.

Wow, pretty neat. If the street prices are decent, I could see picking a couple of those up.

Also a new fixed blade in 52100, which is nice to see. I'll wait until after SHOT to make any serious decisions, but it sure sound like Cold Steel will be getting more of my money than any other manufacturer in the next year or so. This is the most impressive new lineup so far this year, and they aren't done yet.

Going to have to give the Lucky a hard look. Is the serrated one ever going to need sharpening? That's my only issue.

Yeah. I like Cold Steel generally speaking, but last year's lineup with all the swords and polearms and stuff didn't exactly blow me away(I like swords well enough, but they're something I buy maybe once or twice a year, not like I'm gonna rush out and pick up 10 new swords). This year is looking a lot more interesting.

Black Talon looks very familiar. Any idea where I've seen that very distinct blade shape before?

Yup. They've put up a few mall-ninjaish items in the new lineup, but most of it seems very practical and utilitarian. The fixed blades seem a bit on the thick side, but apart from that criticism I could see myself carrying and using almost everything new in the 2015 lineup. The Black Talon 2 is a bit of an exception, but plenty of others seem excited about that.

They ought to run the Trailmaster in 3V at 58 or 60Rc... that would be sweet.

Spyderco Civilian/Matriarch. On the product description page they even explicitly state the design was used "with kind permission from Spyderco"

That's neat. Thank you. I wonder how they both compare. Non serrated seems to be a good option from CS vs the original. But then it's probably not a kind of knife which I'd use too often in a bad situation (I hope) and thus sharpening shouldn't be an issue. On the other hand playing with it a lot could happen too. :p

yeah, the ultimate hunter does look pretty good. looks like a couple of CS in store for me

They've always had some decent products, so I'm glad they're coming out with more stuff that might curtail some of the Cold Steel bashing that sometimes happens.

I'm usually not a fan of Cold Steel but I really want the Finn Wolf and the Tiger Claw.

I'm glad they sought their permission...
