For you, what is THE best SAK

Victorinox Spartan for me!

Shall I need more, I will turn to a multi-tool like lethermann or something similar.

I've got a love/hate relationship with the Spartan. I won't carry it because of the corkscrew and the limited range of tools, but I own more Spartans than any other model. Just because I don't carry one doesn't mean that I don't appreciate their historical significance, and their place in the evolution of the Victorinox line.

I like having the corkscrew. Not because I need the corkscrew but because I like having the option to hold the tiny screwdriver inside of the corkscrew. It is nice having the extra philips screwdriver instead but the can opener's works fine for that.

And besides a Cadet with Scissors, I'd like to see a Compact in Alox but with an awl instead of the hook.

Impossible to pick just one because my daily needs keep changing. My rotation consists of OH Trekker, Swisschamp, Super Tinker, Tinker and Rambler. These cover it all.

I live in France... you cannot go camping without a corkscrew ;)
That is funny but that's not a joke and I won't use a SAK that don't have a corkscrew .... that is purely a cultural constraint ;)

  Always one available when traveling!!!!!! :D

I love the Tinker and Bantam models. Two layers is the max for me. However, the one I have with me every day is the Classic. I use every tool on it; the knife is packed with utility for such an unobtrusive size.

Hmmm, What was that old thing about minds…

I was walking home through Central Park in NYC one day, and passed three men with a bottle of wine they couldn't open. I volunteered my SAK corkscrew and opened it in seconds, leaving them very pleased. :)

I also find a corkscrew is an excellent tool for unknotting shoelaces, better than the parcel hook.

I am an Explorer guy, too! However, I have an affinity for the SAK/GAK, Tourist pattern, also. Best leverage with a corksrew, ever, LOL. I have always made use of the corkscrew at holiday meals, beating the host to the task with whatever bottle is there.

Now, I am mulling the step up to a Syph custom 3-layer, just to keep my scissors, awl, lense, and combo-opener at hand, w/o the extraneous tools. I'd probably opt for the pruner or Electricians' blade, also, as I always have one or more other knifes with greater reach on me.

I love SAKs, and own MANY, but the one I EDC everywhere I can carry a knife is the Executive. I don't carry the regular-sized SAKs because I always have a Swisstool Spirit S on my belt. The Executive pairs up really well with that.

For fun, I recently got a Rambler, which I've been carrying down in my left cargo pocket next to my wallet. But in terms of use, IMO the Executive has the perfect compact size, yet it isn't so small as to be hard to locate in the pocket or awkward to use. I even find use for the oft-maligned 'orange peeler' blade. I've used it to scrape, turn screws, used it as a light 'hook' and as a light-use prying tool, and even peeled oranges with it (though it's not my preferred blade to do that with).

I was covering a university function (for donors) at the museum and the caterers forgot a corkscrew...man were they happy when I pulled my Champion out of my camera bag. :)

Alox Cadet gets the most pocket time and use being on the key chain with car key (& Fenix LD01).
Explorer stays in the car.

Hey guys, just wanted to know your opinion on what is the best SAK for you. For a long time I carried a SAK Cadet Alox, but I just bought the Huntsman with translucent scales...and i'm looooovin it!

What you hold in your hands has been a daily carry for me for just about a year now, I love it.

Just wish they had put a much more useful tool in place of the parcel hook, also added the small eyeglass screwdriver to the corkscrew.

Hmmm.... good question - I have several faves for several tasks.

For EDC (on person) I really like the Alox Pioneer/Electrician - the Deluxe Tinker is a great tool for bag carry.

For backpacking/hiking I really like the Forester / Trailmaster - I´m almost thinking about a Hercules / Workchamp because of the pliers

For working (building lot) I like the simple Tinker or the Forester / Trailmaster as well

I really have so many great SAKs around everywhere in the house. In the two cars we own, I always have a Spartan / Climber - just in case :D

Andi! A man after my own heart!!! :)

BTW. The Herc is a great knife to throw into a backpack! I love it.

Well, they could of put a Phillips screwdriver, it would of been better, thats my opinion. But still like the parcel hook to undo knots.
