For you, what is THE best SAK

For sure tho one o these days i will buy an Explorer, the magnifying glass is neat to have. As I am a minimalist, another way to start a fire, one less thing to carry.

Victorinox did makes this exact knife, at least in the 84mm size, both cellidor and alox. It was called the Voyageur. The later alox models had the combo tool, while the earlier ones had the cap lifter instead.

They have been discontinued for some time, and go for real money now. It's probably cheaper to go custom and get Syph007 to make you one. I believe he can also make them in the 93mm size as well.

Well I know what I'm looking for. I think this took over as my grail knife for the time being haha. :D
Thank you kindly my dangerous friend.

I own so many different flavors, and all of them have been my "favorite", but I tend to always gravitate back to the Explorer Plus. It has so much utility for what life throws at you, and I am a complete snob for the Phillips driver that folds out 180 degrees like God intended.

Thats a nice one, heavy in the pocket?

At 4 layers, its a little thick in the pocket, but at 3.6 ounces not what I would call heavy. Four layers is not for everyone, but you soon get used to it and don't notice it. I have a Swissbianco Yeoman, which is pretty much just a 3 layered Explorer Plus - and the closest SAK I have to perfection - but I didn't mention it because its not a Victorinox production model.

Swissbianco Yeoman Plus.

The one you have with you...
I rotate an Executive and Alox Rambler on my keychain, keep an Alox Farmer in my car door pocket, and have a camo Huntsman in my GHB.
I wouldn't give any up, my favorite to use is the Farmer, but if I could choose just one it would be the Huntsman simply because it has most of what I need, including scissors and saw in one package.

I'm surprised not more people mention the explorer

It has the magnifying glass to start a fire

Good luck with that. I have been trying to light fires with a SAK magnifier for about 20 years with no success. All I have succeeded in doing is burning holes in paper or getting a little smoke from tinder. There are reports of guys who have started fires with their SAK mags, but the only thing I have so far accomplished is giving my brother a hot spot then running for my life, but I'm too old for that foolishness any more. So I wish you well, and if you can figure out how to do it, please let us know.

I was walking home through Central Park in NYC one day, and passed three men with a bottle of wine they couldn't open. I volunteered my SAK corkscrew and opened it in seconds, leaving them very pleased. :)

I also find a corkscrew is an excellent tool for unknotting shoelaces, better than the parcel hook.

One of two things here;
1, they were too drunk to open the twist off cap, or,

2, wino's in NYC are way more affluent than the local wino's down here who all drink twist off's or the wine in the box!
:D

Hopefully the Electrician will be my favourite , because I just ordered one , but haven't recieved it yet .

:)

For EDC in town I love the Compact, slim, light and with a very good selection of tools.
For when I am hiking is either a Huntsman or a Farmer. Love my Farmer but miss the scissors...

My favorite outdoors knife is the Victorinox Outrider. So much utility and it's still OK in a pocket. I'm also a big fan of the compact and the manager in more civilized settings.

Yes, they're fine. They're a much finer, smaller tool than the multitool pliers you might be used to, so they don't really fill the same role. Think of them more as power-tweezers than as pliers, and for what that's worth it's a well made and functional tool.

Thanks Miao! Will get one someday.

I drink plenty of boxed wine, when you're shelling out the requisite dough for rent, you need to cut corners somehow! Black Box Malbec for 23 bones gets a job done.

As far as the actual question, Cadet, easy. Has everything a city dweller like me needs, nothing I don't, looks upscale and benign enough for use anywhere and I like the way a nice, worn in Alox looks.
