Forum Contest, Design the best Tin Knife!

since stuff always looks better on paper than it feels in hand, I did some mockups out of 1/4" luan plywood.
yes, they all fit in the tin. (even all 4 at the same time)
3 of these are my design, the "bent" one is 60% the wife's idea.
if you want the sketches these were made from, I can post those up, too.
And since it's a knife fourm, I included a couple of knives - with their homemade sheaths. :D

the skinny ones are 3/4" stock, the fat one w/swedge & bent one 1"
(and yes - that's the collaboration knife)

Here is mine. The drawing sucks but I did it in my car on lunch. It would look more flowing after I profiled it.

Maybe we can swindle Warrior to put the top three in his graphics program. It gives a better feel I think.

Ok, this is a bit outside the box, but you've got a bottle opener and a blade. Your index finger fits the large opening and your middle finger supports on the top side of the "tail". You still get 1.5"of blade, which seems to be a lot more than I was getting with other ideas. It would maybe need to be 1/4 or 3/8" stock to be comfortable with the grip I described.

This is flat kick ass!

Lets set the deadline for entries for tomorrow night. Ill see if the famous judges can choose tomorrow night or Monday! Im trying to get three judges to choose their favorite. That way we will have different tastes judging. Two will be knifemakers and one is a big animal...if they wanna do it. If they don't, Ill see if Bill can free up some time, I don't wanna bother him now.

. . . . and a dollar to a doughnut says this animal has a "big rack" and also has a ".45" associated to him as well . . . . . :)
Be safe.

Maybe :p
Although I don't know if his "rack" is that large...:barf:

(p.s.: Chris, by the way, great idea on this) . .

This is a sick contest, I'll design one right now!

Edit: Done! Hope its clear enough for you :D It is below the recommended 1.5" width. The grind may need to be altered at the choil area.

a) I really like Stumpbuster's spearpoint/arrowhead.
b) my take on a simple pizza cutter/ulu/hide scraper.

I figured as much - but wanted to see if I could make one that was comfortable. I also thought of a T-handle version but it would have the same problem with needing fat stock. you thinking 3/32" stick for these?

Am I the big animal? :D :D :D

Great looking knives guys, keep 'em coming!

Depends Daniel, what size rack you got!

Vik, I would love to do them in 3/32 or sawmill steel. Aldo doesnt carry that thin so I will have to find somewhere else.
