Forum Knife Updates and comments

Some good looking BUCKs in these pics!

After receiving this, I’m thinking I really need an elk scaled BUCK 112.......

Recieved pre ship notification on the 7th. USPS notified package arrived in Spokane on the 8th. Wohoo!

Thing is..I'm in PA.

Just hoping it turns east before continuing west..

Back in the running for last!
Wouldn't worry about it. Mine went from Idaho to Spokane, and I'm in south Texas. Supposed to receive it Monday.

Thank you, John

I realized..I've had this happen before as well. I deleted the post as to not add pressure to SK...more of a comment than a complaint..

Sincerely appreciate your reply

Yes, thank you. I agree.

He wasn't taken too seriously as a legit artist at first. Mostly know for the Conan paper back stuff, some movie posters, The Gauntlet (Clint Eastwood)..Molly Hatchet (remember them) used his stuff for album covers..

Influences were Remington and N.C Wyeth (big fan of both artists as well), among others..he truly is/was a master of "movement".

Had the pleasure of meeting him in person before he passed and saw most of his work at his museum when it was in PA..He was originally from Brooklyn, same as me..

Apologies for the derail, folks..I could talk that stuff all day..

Thank you agian, John for reaching out..most appreciated.

My 301's eta is Tuesday...Can. Not. Wait!

UPDATE:

Buck still has about 200 knives they need to finish and get to me. I believe 99% of you should at least have a pre-shipment notification. We'll get more knives next week and get them out to you. I wish we would have gotten them all this week. I can only ask for a wee bit more patience with the process from you all. Thanks for all the awesome photos and comments thus far!

Thanks for the update. Guess I’m among the 1% that didn’t get a pre shipping notice yet.

My pair of forum knives arrived and I am disappointed.

Elk is almost smooth on one, and the knife has a pretty large, weird gap between spring and liner.

Second knife is borderline acceptable due to gaps in springs and liners. Elk is better on this one, but not bumpy at all.

Knife action is weak on both.

I am surprised Buck cannot achieve a proper fit between springs and liners. No more buck slippies for me.

top photo is first 2018 forum knife with bad gap. second photo is borderline 2018 knife with multiple small gaps. last pic is a typical GEC, here a 14.

Thoroughly sprayed the 2018 Forum Knife down with RemOil, put it in a corrosion resistant plastic sleeve, and put it in it's box along with the info tag it came with, and closed the box flap, probably never to see the light of day again, at least while I'm alive.

I would say your assessment is a bit unfair considering many folks here have received excellent examples. Saying they "cannot achieve a proper fit" is just not true based on the evidence. Send it in to them and let them make it right.

Ed, that is what happens to most of my limited edition Club Knives, but I'm hoping one of these will make itself my regular EDC. OH

Mine came in yesterday's mail. It's a great knife. There is no under blading and the fit and finish is first rate with no drips, runs, errors, chips, cracks, or gaps and to top it off the covers, although light in color, are very well defined and even (color wise) on both the Mark side and Pile side. The slanted bolsters really set it off. Oh, the blades are sharp out of the box and ready to go. The pull for both blades is about 4.5 to 5 and the walk and talk for both blades is snappy.

skblades skblades and Buck did a heck of a job. I,m so glad we got away from GEC this year. Not because of anything negative with GEC but I think we needed a change and Buck came through in spades. Hopefully we'll be able to use them again in the future.
I feel exactly the same about mine. I haven’t been able to put it down since it arrived on Friday.

Buck and skblades skblades knocked this one out of the park. As beautiful as this knife is, it still has that purpose-forward feel that my 112 and 303 both have. Settles into the hand like it’s meant to be there.

Nice job, everyone!

Many of the complaints about these knives are petty and unreasonable - my opinion.

Perhaps the Mods should direct those negatives to "FEEDBACK: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly". That's where most of these situations are aired out.

Yes, everyone has a right to express an opinion but maybe they should do it in the forum where that's suppose to happen.

My .02¢

Perhaps if you were actually going to use yours....

That is a good idea. The porch is a friendly place. Are the Mods willing establish a W&C thread where people can express something less than positive opinions about an issue transpiring on the porch? Will anyone else reading this do it?

Haven't received mine yet.
I agree that many of the comments can be viewed as "petty".
BUT, I also feel that since the thread is for comments that it is appropriate to air out observations - both positive and negative.
I feel that it is important for all to remember that in such a monumental undertaking that there are bound to be some "disappointments" and that the obvious recourse is to send the knives in for correction as would be the indicated action with any knife.
