:D:thumbup:This is awesome! I didn't realize a Tar Heel Blue Izula would be so well-received.

Gator blue!!!!!!

We are the boys from old Florida
F-L-O-R-I-D-A
Where the girls are the fairest,
The boys are the squarest
Of any old state down our way

We are all strong for old Florida
Down where the old Gators play
In all kinds of weather
We'll all stick together
for F-L-O-R-I-D-A

We don't make an Orange Izula and don't plan to add it to the line for a while, but if you're willing to pay to have the minimum amount of orange powder then we will do it. ;) Just be warned the minimum is about 500 knives worth and the stuff is expensive.

you just broke my heart.......................:(

what about a od green izula, with "2009 official Rat Pack knife" and the rat pack num below that.

We can do that if everyone wants. That's pretty easy since we will run the consecutive numbers and offer them fro sale for a period of time. If someone doesn't buy their number we will sell it to someone else.

This sounds great - what better way to officially be a member of R.A.T. :D I'm in. The EEES patch on a RC-3 or RC-4 would be good . Jeff, your mention of the stainless steel would also be a way to set this knife apart.

If it's going to be 1095, I'd vote for something very similar to the RC-3MIL with special engraving. I like the ESEE logo modification well enough.

If it's going to be 440C or D2, I'd want it to be a RC-4. It's probably the most versatile of the lineup and the size of blade would showoff the new material better I think.

While I'd love to see it based on the, as of now, nonexistent RChop,I think the RC3 is really the iconic RAT blade. IIRC most, if not all, the SWAT and "agency" knives have been based on the RC3. It also strikes the best balance of EDC easy of carrying, and "real handle" ease of use. For color, I really like the idea of the tiger stripe camo (alternating blend of the OD and black coatings is fine), with black linen scales and the mint green liners. With the full sheath options of the MIL, including the foliage sheath. Oh, and make it the plain pommel.

For artwork, what about the ESEE artwork

But replace the "EEES" with PACK. Put this in place of the usual logo. Where RC-3 usually goes, maybe a simple "#" followed by your RAT pack number? Do the engraving in gold.

Second choice would be the same in an RC4.

Third would be the same in an Izula (probably can't get the logo on the blade), but in place of the normal Izula serial number, put "RAT #" followed by your RAT Pack number.

NOW THAT'S JUST PERFECT!
That's exactely what I was thinking.

RC-3, tiger striper with OD and Black(really cool colors mixed)
The ESEE logo, with ''RAT Pack'' on it.
But, I'd like the same handle material as the MIL version has, color:Black
Bootclip added would be nice to.

I'm really excited 'bout this one!

No need to keep your mouth shut. Just thought I would gig you on that :D

OK, as long as I don't have to keep my mouth shut... that can be hard for me to do sometimes:D

I'm perfectly happy with 1095. But I admit I don't know much about 440C. Would that be suitable for larger knives, or would it be restricted to the smaller models?

Sounds like a really great opportunity!

I'm loving the concept of a satin bladed RC-4 of 440C. Couple it with the orange G10 handle. You'd have a wonderful wet-weather blade that would compliment the knives. In other words, I'd have a wonderfully practical reason to buy this knife other than it just being a dressed up version of a knife I already have.

Laser art - can you laser a satin blade? The same logo on the SERE knife, with RAT Cutlery as an arc over top the skull and cross bones and Blade Forums underneath would be cool.

The RC-4 is the gem of the RC-line in terms of its versatility. It really is the one do-it all knife that perfectly marries robustness and function. A stainless version would generate that added niche to this near perfect line.

Sharpshooter Sheath in brown leather, together with that RAT Pack knife, now that would be a bombshell!

Oh, and while I'm at it, how about another suggestion:D? Black canvas micarta handles. I like them better than the linen micarta, which are a little more slick. Or even black G10? I don't know if this destroys the price point, just thought I'd put it out there.

I know it is proabably not in the cards based on comments... But a orange izula would be pretty nice.

440C is a great stainless just often overlooked because the knife industry generates much of its hype by using newer steels. It can be a hard and long wearing steel. Certainly not as tough as 1095, but not too brittle like some of the super steels out there. I think 440C is a great choice and follows in the tradition of the choice for 1095 - an excellent, well proven cutlery material that can be had at reasonable prices and tweaked with the right heat treat to produce an excellent quality knife.

Take a look at companies like Entrek who have been pumping out very well respected 440C knives for a while now.

What kind of hardness can be gotten out of 440C? Can the heat treat techniques RAT uses wring something like HRC 58 or 59 out of 440C? Would you want that, or would it make the steel too brittle? Sorry if I'm dragging this thread off-topic a bit with the steel talk. I believe somebody else got things stirred up with mention of 440C:eek:

I really like the artwork here, maybe include the saying
"A RAT DONT DIE"

This sounds great, now I just need to post more so I can get into the pack :D

How about an ucoated Izula

That would be cool since my plans for my first RAT is a Desert Tan Izula with a purple paracord wrap. Uncoated would be preferable though as i have plans to strip the one i get anyway.

I thing it would also be nice to have our RP number imprinted.
