What is does your handle mean?

I'll go first, mine is a combination of my alma mater mascot and my name.

Not INFI related but kinda fun anyway. It has been a while since I have been on BF and I see, ahem, many new folks here. Actively raising young'uns takes all my free time.

Enjoy.

A Rumanian home-brewed plum brandy. Give it a try, should you get the chance. Will allow you to see into the Sixth Dimension.

Petey...my first dog when I was a kid...

Pete...my best friend on the block growing up...

So that's the Two Pete<y>s....

the .1 kinda represents "me" but the Petey's are the main significance

My initials and the year I first got an email account, yahoo selected it for me in 2000 and it just kind of stuck ,,, nothing too exciting or creative

Mine comes from the Japanese word 'to customise'. I always had this unquenchable thirst for taking things apart and augmenting them. :)

You say it's not too exciting>>>>>>but it set you up for Ready Cooked Bacon...so don't downplay it! That's EPIC lol

For my handle:

My last name is Hooie (an immigration misspelling of Howie -a Scottish name, we emigrated here not long after the American revolution, IIRC).

I spent a lot of time in the Boy Scouts. One of the "old" patrol names is the owl patrol. My dad was in this patrol at Woodbadge, an in depth training course. Owls go hoot, and with our last name, dad became Hoot. When I was around, he was "Big" hoot and I was "little" hoot.

Well, I think it's obvious.

I am old. And a physicist.

Also, I clearly suffer a distinct deficit of creativity.

I actually knew that.

Yes, I still am an enormous nerd and I have read far, far too much.

I belong to the Ancient and Honorable Order of E Clampus Vitus. We are referred to as "clampers" so......clampdaddy.

We are a drinking historical society or a historical drinking society. We aren't really sure which. One of our mottos is "What would kill most men only gives a Clamper a headache". And then there is "You can't drink all day if you don't start first thing in the morning". Most of you would fit right in.

I subscribe to a certain philosophy of self defense using a contemporary tomahawk, called "breaking the snake". I've always been intrigued by disabling your opponent by taking away his means of attack using various types of blocks or hooking and ripping movements.

Take away the snakes fangs and it can't bite you. Same idea here.

Cool thread. This is a little wordy for something ultimately not very creative, but here goes:

I still remember my first post on BF. I was just getting into knives and had been lurking for a while. I initially signed up not to talk about knives, but specifically to extoll the virtues of Laphroaig Quarter cask in a thread I think Lunde started here in the Busse sub.

Around that day I had read an article about the large-ish asteroid 99942, that had a small chance of passing through a gravitational keyhole and dropping into an orbit that would ultimately terminate in a devastating collision with Earth in 2029. Not necessarily doomsday, but some potentially serious shit. Some scientist or another dubbed it "Apophis." Not to worry though, I believe the chances of an impact from this particular space rock have effectively been ruled out until 2068. Party on for now :)

The name is derived from the ancient Greek name for Apep, the Egyptian snake god of chaos, which is pretty badass. It was also apparently used by as the name of a villian in the Stargate tv show, but I am not familiar with the series.

So, it just kind of popped in my head while I was registering and trying to think of a username. I've thought about changing it, but so far it's stuck.

First game that I ever played online was back in 2000. It was called Delta Force. You had to select one of several characters as an avatar. I always used the same one, Gas Can. He was the gas expert ( OC, PEPPER SPRAY, tear gas, smoke screen, etc.).

I decided to rename him Noxious Fumes..... Besides, I soon realized how much I stank at that game. The name stuck ever since.:)

Well.....I'm a Gator...graduated from UF in 76.
But......I moved to Atlanta from FL.......thus my handle from my email address Georgecatl ( George C of Atlanta)
