Forums migrated, software updates, some features disabled

Shocking how it's only the people that are only here for the Exchange that are complaining, and can't even be bothered to take a minute to check what's going on before starting yet another thread about it...

Just figured we paid a membership fee for something. If it’s mainly for just discussing you can literally do that anywhere for free.

Forgive us, uxo2 uxo2 . Please refer to post #153 in this thread. It will be like a treasure hunt.

Not all the add-ons that we use are currently compatible with the new version of the software, most notably the Feedback system, but we're expecting an update to that to be pushed shortly.

This quote, however, is in post #1, and it succinctly answers the question.

Yes indeed. That is, in fact, what Gene was waiting for, and he was not disappointed.

BF is intended to be primarily a discussion forum. Sales Exchanges are intended to be a convenience for hobbyists, not a sales venue for dealers unless they have a dealer membership. If missing sales is a significant issue to you, perhaps it is because you have more than a hobbyist's interest in selling and require a dealer membeship?
Thank you for not Nuking my comment about Feedback.
But this gives me the impression it will not return or not a Priority.

And to would it be possible to bring it to vote on the BF wether members want it or not.

Spark expects to include feedback once the third party software is compatible with the forum software. It's in everyone's best interest to get it done...financially, for the software folks; and for the benefit of the forum and its members.

Unfortunately, we are at the mercy of the developers in that regard.

So, you have not bothered to read the rest of the thread? You have not understood that the third party software feedback system is not currently available? And that as soon as it becomes available Spark will install it?

It has nothing to do with BF, priority or otherwise. It is not under the staff's control, they don't develop the add-on. I don't imagine there is anyone who would vote against it returning...

Any further developments regarding old photo attachments. I am reluctant to duplicate uploads and certainly wouldn’t want to damage old threads by deleting earlier uploads. Is there currently a way to access the member photo album?

Too many quotable teaching moments - and attempts at using them as such by Spark and the mods - in this thread to quote them all. Unfortunately far too many here, and everywhere else now days it seems like, don't realize how much simpler reading comprehension can make their lives.

Another sadly dissapointing reality is that if you take a moment to think about how stupid the average person is, and then take it a step further, you'll realize that half of them are even stupider than that....

This falls on the low end of the totem pole with regards to priorities but I thought it prudent to report. In dark mode, links and such are now being presented as black boxes; I assume due to hyperlink fonts being set to black. This is on PC and mobile.

Example here (sorry to use your post as an example David Mary David Mary ):

Switched to “Default black 2.2” to test. Confirmed.

Spark, I am having the same problems with hyperlinks in Dark mode
still this ?

FWIW, the feedback info was useful for assessing the other member's trustworthiness & the lack of it is problematic, especially for buyers, which I primarily am.

So, I hope it returns soon.

Fortunately, I haven't been scammed as a buyer yet even though I use PPFF for payment but I'm as careful as I can be under the circumstances.

These are my current rules for buying anything on The Exchange before making a PPFF payment:

1) I will no longer deal w/anyone who is not a paying member (Gold or above) & who is not active on the Forum as indicated by their # of posts & reaction scores (the more the better IMO).

2) If the seller is not "active" enough to give me confidence in him, I will ask for the seller's EB id & to ck his feedback there & to send him a DM there to verify his id before completing a purchase here.

3) If the seller doesn't have a sufficient level of activity on BF & doesn't have an EB acct or a sufficient level of +feedback there, I won't deal w/him, unless he's willing to accept a PP G&S payment.

4) Another option is to ask the seller for a reference -- the name of a member he has sold a knife before & to send that member a DM to ask if that deal went well or not.

I haven't used this option yet myself but I was asked by a seller, who I had a prior deal with, if I was willing to act as a reference for him (I was) & another member contacted me to confirm that I was satisfied with my deal with him (which I was).

Anyway, I haven't seen all of these options mentioned together elsewhere, since the Exchange feedback system went dark, so thought it might be useful to mention them here now.

Bottom line: No knife is so important or desirable to risk getting scammed trying to buy it.

Do your "due diligence" and, if the seller lacks credibility & the deal doesn't "feel" right, just walk away from it.

You won't regret it.

PS to Mods: If you don't think this post is appropriate here, feel free to move it to where you think it would be better placed.
