Forums migrated, software updates, some features disabled

There is no "you guys". The moderation staff has no financial interest in the site and derives no income from it.
Hopefully the 3rd party software company is giving Bladeforums a major discount for their "Improvements" HA, Better?

It's simple. The Exchange related feedback is an add-on to the actual forum software. The forum software was upgraded for security purposes as well as other considerations connected with forum operations.

The third party software company that provides the add-on has not yet created one compatible with the current software.

I can't fix it. Spark Spark can't add what isn't available. If the Exchange is your primary reason for being here, you have my sympathies but it's out of my hands.

Before the feedback system was added to BF a few years ago, Positive and Negative threads reviewing transactions in the Good, Bad, and Ugly forum were used.

It's still a good idea to run a search on that forum if you have a question about a deal. You may not find positive reviews for every good transactor, but if somebody has been a real dick, there is usually a thread about it in that forum.

Forums have been moved to the new server. We've also updated to the latest version of the forums software so there will be some changes and weirdness. Not all the add-ons that we use are currently compatible with the new version of the software, most notably the Feedback system, but we're expecting an update to that to be pushed shortly. Until then trader feedback is temporarily disabled.

Thank you for your patience as we work through this. Once all updates are complete then new features will be rolled out and other issues looked at.
Thanks for all you do!

I have been inactive on here for a bit, so starting to catch up on this update. Regarding the feedback system update to be pushing out shortly...will our previous feedback be included in the update?

Sorry folks - I got to page six but I’m not interested in feedback which is most of the content so please forgive me for skipping ahead and just asking questions.

I read in Spark’s post that picture uploads will still have limits but that they are paused at the moment. (Thanks for all of your efforts Spark Spark !)

Have there been any updates since then about pictures?

I’m particularly curious if folks like myself who unknowingly exceeded their limit last time will be given a second chance…

🍭 🍬 🍬 🍭
Pretty please??

…or if we’ll be cut off again once the limit system comes back.

Also, will we eventually regain the ability to access our old photos so we can re-post them without using additional allotted space? 🤞🤞

Thanks guys and gals!

scdub scdub , I have no inside info, but if your pics are gone that's because you deleted them to get under the limit so you could re-post directly again. Strikes me that if they're deleted they're not saved anywhere on the BF server and they're irretrievable. Spark and the mods advised against deleting pics to get under the limit, advice which I complied with, and as far as I know all my directly uploaded pics are still intact. To my knowledge, BF didn't take down anyone's pics.

I never counted on BF for photo hosting, anymore than I counted on Imgur for that for the years I used them--despite being a Gold or Platinum member--before starting direct uploading in August of '22. I went back to Imgur when the "too many attachments" thing came up last winter, going back to direct again when the new software upgrade gave over-the-limit users like me the opportunity to do so again. Any pics I want to save are on my laptop.

He may not have necessarily deleted them.

We previously had an Attachments section where we could view pics we uploaded to the forum and use an existing link to repost the same image.

The section is no longer showing/accessible to users.

Those pics seem to still exist in the BladeForums ether as my own are still showing. I have not deleted any, nor can I now since that section is gone.

This is basically cheating though, right? I mean, when the limits come back, you'll then have an even larger mess to clean up (more pics to delete). Right now it's just sort of stealing more server space than we should per our membership limits, right?

I really, REALLY hate Imgur, so I too want to post directly to the forums but I am trying hard to not take advantage of the current unlimited uploads since I figured it would come right back to bite me once the free lunch is over.

I really need to look into other image hosting websites. As has been discussed a lot here before, this is a problem with no easy or ideal solution.

I don't see why this is cheating at all. We were advised not to delete pics. I didn't. We were told the limits were removed for the current time with the new software change, so I went back to posting directly. There was no need to delete pics before--BF didn't take any away. I don't imagine there will be any need to delete pics when and if limits are reinstated. Deleting pics just ruined a lot of threads.

I don't like Imgur either, but I always use their desktop version if using their website, posting on my laptop, have bookmarked my gallery page and post from there so I never see all the stupid social BS and moronic posts. If I have to go back to using Imgur I will, unless I look for another photo sharing site, but I don't count on Imgur or BF to host my pics, I just keep what I want on my laptop.

I visited and posted to the site less when I had to return to Imgur. Limits are off, and I’m visiting and posting a lot more again. I didn’t delete images because I didn’t want to contribute to ruining threads.

For me, a solution to continue posting directly here without deleting images would be ideal. I guess we’ll see how it goes

Shocking how it's only the people that are only here for the Exchange that are complaining, and can't even be bothered to take a minute to check what's going on before starting yet another thread about it...
Its been a hot minute since I have actually been able to get on and I noticed the feedback gone and I immediately did my due diligence and searched on the forums lol. I knew there would be 200 new threads asking the same thing

So I was trying to see if there was a temporary fix for this using web.archive.org to look up the feedback, take a screenshot, and post it to any sell post. But the captures are iffy

Yeah, David Mary David Mary proved that screenshots are iffy after he gave me over a thousand positive feedback on my screenshot

No - I didn’t delete anything, but thanks for responding. 👍

Yeah - that’s what I’m talking about, (along with second chances for people that exceeded their original allotment).

I guess I’ll just keep my fingers crossed and see what happens…
