Since the forum change, the old way of putting links in used to populate the picture. NOW, it just has a link to IMGUR. Using the “BBC Code” to copy and paste, apparently does NOW populate the picture.

David Mary David Mary ,
It's super easy. Just go to your picture on Imgur that you want to post and double click on it. The picture will pop up with a bunch of links on the side and select the one marked "BB code" . click on the "copy" command which will immediately highlight to green on Imgur. Select a picture size on the bottom of that page. You can play with the different sizes until you find one you like. The one I posted I used large thumbnail for example. Then come right back to bladeforums and paste it directly into the reply box. Click preview and you should see the picture in your post. Hope all that was clear.

Inasmuch as this thread has morphed into a discussion of picture posting, which is much more agreeable than reading posts from impatient members whining about feedback being temporarily unavailable, I'll give A alex 's Imgur method a shot. I've always just pasted the BB Code straight into the text box too, like I mentioned earlier and as Cwilliams563 Cwilliams563 (#Stillnota Dealer ;)🤣) posted above, but have usually reduced my image size in Preview on my Mac beforehand. Here goes, using a 4032x2268 image and "large thumbnail".

I'll try "huge thumbnail too.

Those both work fine, but I'll probably still reduce sizes to 1200w as I keep my pics on my computer anyway and they take up less room smaller. Eventually Imgur will go paywall or belly up and I don't want my pics stored only there. I should really start storing them on a remote drive anyway to save space on my Mac.

For now, I'm back to direct posting (no Imgur) until the sh*t hits the fan again and I have to go back to using a photo host. I don't really like Imgur and it is an extra step, but I have my bookmarks set so I can avoid all the social crap. Personally, I enjoy the forums here enough that I'm perfectly happy to keep my platinum membership to help support this place and don't expect to use BF as a photo hosting service. I'll keep my own pics anyway.

That should help a lot of people.

My issue is that linking to IMGUR videos has now become a problem; and it only functions inconsistently here, regardless of which method or what link I use for the video.

Will all our old feedback be returning When this gets resolved or will we be starting again from scratch? My concern is losing all of our accumulated feedback I had over 160 transactions with feedback over the years

This falls on the low end of the totem pole with regards to priorities but I thought it prudent to report. In dark mode, links and such are now being presented as black boxes; I assume due to hyperlink fonts being set to black. This is on PC and mobile.

Example here (sorry to use your post as an example David Mary David Mary ):

Spark, I am having the same problems with hyperlinks in Dark mode

Still waiting on feedback. WOW!
Just to echo what's already been said here, I'd imagine BF is using the XenCentral feedback system which is an add-on used by many different forums (Sniper's Hide comes to mind as one) and is updated at the leisure of its creator. While frustrating, there isn't anything any member, moderator, etc etc here can do about it.

When the Xenforo software upgrades, there are probably a lot of different forum add-ons that need their compatibility updated as well.

Forums like this one offer a ton of things that the walled garden-app store-Meta social media app space does not, but there is some give and take and this is one of the minor drawbacks. Just my two cents.

I agree with what you’re saying but why not wait for everything to be ready and then do the update.

I don't know, that's not something I can speak to. I would imagine that to the powers that be, the minor inconvenience of being without the feedback system until it's updated were outweighed by the benefits of the forum software upgrade.

Noticed when I click on someone's profile I now no longer can see a gallery of their images. :(

That is a reasonable sentiment; however, that is not how IT works in the real world. There were very pressing issues that necessitated the forum upgrade. Addons, like MarbReds MarbReds mentioned, are usually developed by 3rd parties and they are not necessarily compelled, or in some cases, obligated to upgrade their software simply at the whims of the entity that their augments serve.

Simply put, it's entirely possible this forum could end up on life-support or worse if Spark (and XenForo) were to count on 3rd party addon developers to update their code, do QA testing, and release new versions before implementing upgrades to the base forum software.

Where have you been? Everybody was barking at Spark to make something happen due to the issues with pic posting, and he did, and now you're still not happy and still saying he did it wrong.

When I see that the title of this thread has "some features disabled", and the man himself said:

Thank you for your patience as we work through this. Once all updates are complete then new features will be rolled out and other issues looked at.

I take that as a hint that it's time to just chill, and wait it out. Even though there are at least a half dozen features that I notice missing that I would like to have back. But guess what, there are also a bunch of new features that I really like, too. Spark will be back with an update when he's ready, advising that things are G2G and when he is, if I still see things missing at that time that I would like to see return, I will mention it then.

How did you receive payment. PayPal F&F or Goods and Services?
I specify G&S in my FS posts.

ETA: On occasion a member will offer me F&F in order to lower the price and I’ll accept with the understanding that I will refund them if they aren’t 100% happy with the item.

There were security issues with the prior forums software version. Leave security issues open, or disable feedback until the developer of the third party add-on gets his product updated. Hmmmmmm tough call.
