found gun, please help id

This has gotta be a joke. 180 grit sandpaper on the receiver? I think this guy's gotta be yanking our chain.

I agree...I went back and looked at the pics...180 no way:barf: ....he should have used it on his toe nails.:jerkit:

DAMN, I didn't see the pic of him using sandpaper on the receiver. You've screwed the pooch now.

looks pretty uncomfortsable to shoot.
Was proberbly one of the most reliable rifles ever made.

I think this fellow should be banned for sheer stupidity. Who chops up an M1 in that condition before verifying its value (not to mention historical value)?

I think Grandpa is currently clawing his way out of the grave and opening up a giant can of WHUP ASS.

What is this guy doing posting such on a knife board? Makes me suspicious.

Has anyone seen a similar post on TFL or THR or other gun boards?

Wondering if this isn't some anti-gun jokester...

OMG!! Even I knew that was an Mi Garand!! OMG! I am physically sick over what you did to that rifle!! This has to be a joke. If it is not, you should be shot, but not before you are severly beaten!!

Hahaha! Live and learn.

I am not sickened, it is not my gun. I know the guy probably is kicking himself hard enough without everyone else lining up for a turn.

Shame about the gun, it was a nice one.

Wow. Are all of the parts matching serial ## (please say no)? Anyow, enough of the marveling. Shooting that as a pistol besides possibly not reaching the minimum OAL for ATF regulations, it would also be extremely difficult to shoot. My pops has his non matching ## garand stocked with a laminated stock, looks pretty nice. Or, you can get a surplus stock.

Here is a link to the CMP, should help you out to learn more about the nomenclature, strip, and re assembly of your rifle.

Story is all too conveniently packaged. I'll remain suspicious.

He's got both pieces of the cut off stock in his hands, it really happened.

Check out the beautiful deep patina on the stock, oh god, OH GOD!!
WTF has he done??!!

I'm going to my gun cabinet and promising my Garand it will never meet that fate. I'm going to show this to my son and make sure he shows it to his "future" son, when he has one.

That should be a felony. Destroying a piece of history.

Let's see,
1. Buy a new/used stock.
2. refinish the metal and re-blue it. (Unless it was parkerized).
3. Get a horizontal shaft motor, attach a pivot rod, attach your hunting boot to the rod, fill the boot with lead shot. Stand in front of it while the machine rotates at 1500 rpm, and kicks yer butt over and over again.
4. Repeat #3 daily.

So friggin sad.

A WINCHESTER OMFG... This didnt happen... Winchester also no longer makes USA firearms... All foreign. Plus the uniform and the history behind the firearm I think 1000 to 1500 is a tad low... ( before it was butchered)
Now I wouldnt pay $100.00... Too bad... :(

Sorry I don't believe it, I ain't bitten', but I'll stay to watch the unveilin' of,...nevermind let's wait and see, 3 posts, at a hair before 4 you ask what do I have? and on the same post you've already chopped, cut and created your monster and just a short time later ya proudly display your abortion, hell I can't find a screwdriver that fast to tighten a loose screw and I grew up a mechanic/machinist, still you've managed in as much time to perform a major mod on an M-1.

I think ya never really wanted our opinion, ya just wanted ta dangle the bait, well I ain't bitten', thanks for the laugh though.:D

:barf: :barf: :barf: :(

oh and :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf: :barf:

Zat was a priceless Garand.........not anymore

Was proberbly one of the most reliable rifles ever made.

I used to shoot in a league with M1's we practiced at 500 yards with only the peep site. The real deal matches at camp perry are 1000 yards, again iron sites only.

I don't think there's any hidden agenda here , just some dumb kid who thinks we would be interested in seeing a hacked up piece of our military history
( yes the garand is inmy military history to) and thinks this would make a proper home defence firearm, little does he realize the 150 gr. fmj would go through the perp. but also the exterior wall of the house and into the neighbours house

why would i have modified a 1000 rifle for a joke,i thaught it was just a worthless old hunting rifle. hell check the videos theres 2 there showing me cutting the stock on a saw. o well you live and learn i guess, atleast it looks alot cooler now, i cant wait until i can get my assessories, im going to paint it cammo to i think.

how do i tell if the gun has origional parts. wra and some numbers is marked on the barrel, some numbers and wra on that long rod that you pull on. its also marked on the side of the trigger frame and wra is marked on the saftey but it looks like theres more of a number under that that i cant see with the parts still togeather. theres no other numbers on any of the trigger group parts that i can see.

btw, how do i load this thing? i was looking at it earlier and the dang thing bit me.
